Reviews for "Greener Grass"

Great dynamics here.
The only thing I'd perfect, would be the keyframes. The movements show a lack of controlled inbetweens. It's a great animated short, though. So if those complaints weren't there, this would be AA stuff. It's pretty darn good, Steve! Near perfecto.
Apply at the big studios. I'm sure you could wrangle something up.

SteveRoberts responds:

Thanks a lot! I would have liked to have spent more time on the animation, but time constraints meant I didn't have much time for refinement. :/ Had problems with the rigging stage, so it gave me a couple of weeks less than i planned. AHWELL. Cheers for the review, much appreciated. :D

Very nice imagery as well as an overall pleasant and cohesive tone. Sure the animation is quite "organic" yet but props to you for learning how to use all those programs to create something from your head. I've had Maya and I have Blender and, man, learning this stuff doesn't feel anything like it did when I learned Flash, that's for sure.

SteveRoberts responds:

Yeahh, the 3D software definitely has a steeper learning curve than flash! With flash, you can really learn the basics and you're pretty much good to go from there, but with 3D software, the technical stuff is definitely a creative barrier! I've been using maya for the past three years now on my uni course, and I just about have a grasp of what I'm doing! All the resources you need to learn it are out there on the net though, so keep at it. :)

nicest short I have seen in a while

SteveRoberts responds:

Wow, cheers for the compliment! Glad you liked it! :)

this like something u would see an animation short before the movie starts great work

SteveRoberts responds:

Ahh, thanks a lot! :) Glad you enjoyed it!

This is an amazing short, it has a lot of feel, though I do feel the animations could have been a bit better. The animation however does remind me of disneys frozen and how to train your dragon. It's very good and i'm happy i got to view this, i'm even happier it made it to the front page, considering how much stuff sucks on there nowadays. Good job, hopefully you continue to make more in the future. :)

The grass was greener on the other side. Hi yea, a different island. It just took the twist and didn't follow through with "but it's not always". They where trying to get food, and clearly she is a good friend of his. Doesn't look meaningless at all to me. In fact, quite the opposite. Please make more sense when writing reviews.

"There's so much more that you could've done with this. I was under the impression that the title was referring to the proverb 'the grass is greener on the other side', and expected it to be based around that. But a lot of meaningless stuff seemed to pile on top of each other. Looks pretty nice though!"

To the other person negatively reviewing this, you suck. You really suck. You're the reason newgrounds sucks now, and you giving such awful scores because either a. You can do better, or b, you're a total and completely useless jerk, isn't exactly ok. Please stop!

"the art/animation was great..
but my god the acting/story was the most childish thing i've ever seen.
i'm just goign to give you a 5 for the former and a 0 for the latter
averaging out to 2.5
rounding down to 2 because i don't believe in non-integers"

SteveRoberts responds:

Haha, it's alright, you come to expect recieving negative reviews when posting work anywhere online! I've found the reviews have been generally positive, with only about 4/5 negative reviews out of all of em (and I think they're just not the right audience for this work anyway) so thats fairly good by any standards! :)
Thanks for sticking up for me and my work though, it's much appreciated! Glad you liked the short enough to do so, cheers man, and thanks for the kind review too. :D
