Reviews for "#Escape: The Waiting Room"

Had a bug with my inventory but simply refreshing fixed the problem. Interesting game, could be improved with more puzzles.

Aprime responds:

Yeah, I had a deadline with this project. It was for University. I probably should have put that in the description. Oh well.

This game didn't make a whole lot of sense. I've seen some pretty outrageous puzzles in these escape the room games but cutting up a soda can filled with a memory-loss drugs and using it to bridge the gap between two live wires that have random letters labeled next to them. Seriously I thought those random letters were part of a puzzle so I jotted them down. I figured out the password to the computer pretty easily but figuring out the username was a crap-shoot. Was I supposed to just put in each of the names of the people hanging on the wall and hope for the best? I didn't really feel like I solved a puzzle that way since it wasn't even implied that the username was someone's actual name. I just feel like I got lucky. The UI was pretty clunky. If it could just stay down there without popping up every time I moved my mouse around that area then it'd be much better I think. I did like that you could just drag and drop the items to wherever you needed to use them. It felt a bit more immersive than your typical escape the room game in that aspect. Helps take the frustration out when you're not hunting for pixels trying to figure out exactly where to place something. Here you can just wave it around and if it doesn't stick then no biggy. I know this doesn't sound like a huge deal but there's not a whole lot going with these escape the room games gameplay-wise so little things like this need to really stand out. Other than all that it was a decent game. A bit too short for my taste. I think there were only like 3 real puzzles (log into computer, put code in vending machine, use can on wires).

Aprime responds:

Not random letters, they spell something.
In regards to the username, since you're in a waiting room, you'd expect it to be the receptionists computer.
Glad you liked the drag and drop.
I think you're right in regards to the number of puzzles.

liked ti..but I could not put the key back in the menu and also could not switch to any other screen from tha main pan screen as I took the key. Kinda trapped:/

Aprime responds:

oh tha's rea bad, maybeh try agen or sumfing?

this game is fun entertaining and simple love it but I am not waisting my time with the guess the password on the computer.and theres no link to a walkthrough. but I have all the secret achievements tho

Aprime responds:

There is a linked walkthrough, just not directly on the game. It's in the description.

Usually when I hate Escape room games, there'll so difficult and filled with obscure puzzles that I always have to resort to looking up a walk through. This was one that I didn't have to do that. I went from one task to the next based on logic, and I enjoyed it. The only walkthrough I did have to look up for this was for the medals, which is fine.

However, completing this game in less than a minute is pretty hard. And it's not because I forget the steps. It's because the game works against you. There's no short cut on the keyboard to hit to back away from what you're looking at. You have to somehow find the invisible arrows on the side of the screen, which I don't personally like. And if you look closely at something, there's no arrow up above or down below to back out of it. You have to click the back button. Sure it's something very little, but to complete this in under a minute, every second matters, and it takes me 2 or 3 seconds to open up my inventory and click the back button each time. The mechanics really work against you to get that achievement, and so it feels fixed.

Aprime responds:

The mechanics may not be that great, but at least there's a back button. There really shouldn't be a struggle to complete it in less than a minute once you remember how to complete the game. It's just picking up the stuff in the right order, things that are next to each other. Then you'll have many tens of seconds available.
