Reviews for "Dig To China"

Pretty easy. Only problem I really havenis how Gold is the most common item. It's okay, but not too challenging.

If I had to describe the game in 2 words it would be simple and entertaining. Fancy graphics, complex gameplay and REAL music just don't belong in this game because simple is what makes the game addictive and enjoyable. The time it takes you to finish is just about right (you don't get bored, neither tired) and does not feel perpetual. All of this adds up to 4.5 stars, but well... that hat does look slick.

found a bug at the end. if you can manage to use a mole near the end, the player will fly high in the air and after the mole expires, he falls back on earth. but its a neverending ending then.
otherwise great game

This is pretty enjoyable, very interesting and very satisfying too. The game does have its dull moments, though.

I like the music, it's rather repetitive, but for some reason it never gets old. The graphics are minimal to say the least, but they do their job just fine. I love how the sound effects, the digging animations and all other visuals and sounds are especially designed to make the experience of digging through the earth more satisfying.

The gameplay is simple and pleasant, you basically dig down breaking rocks to find minerals in order to upgrade your items and dig deeper, it's kept as simple as possible, but it's pretty fun. It's all made even better thanks to pack moles, drills and time bonuses found around the stage, that add that bit more satisfaction to the whole thing as you gain more time to explore or break through a bunch of blocks rapidly. Most mining games I know involve a boringly gigantic array of variables (how much heat can you withstand, how long your air supply will last, how damaged your hull is, how much weight you can carry, etc), and I love how this one was kept simple, since the only variable you need to care about is the time limit, and nothing else.

I also like how this is not the kind of game where you can upgrade your way to victory. Sure, this game includes upgrades, but they are not all paid in the same currency, which means that sometimes, in order to get the necessary mineral for your next upgrade, you really have to try hard and push the limits of your current equipment to get as deep as possible to gather more stuff, so the challenge feels pretty legitimate, and the game doesn't reward cookie-cutter grinding.

The one problem with the different minerals used to pay for different upgrades is that sometimes it will take a few rounds before you can get to a certain mineral, and sometimes you need to get really lucky (getting pack moles and time bonuses in the right places) to get deep enough to find them, which makes it so that there are many series of rounds in which you won't get any upgrade, and when that happens, the game becomes momentarily boring.

Overall, though, it's a pretty fun game. Not something I would play all night, but certainly something I could play every now and then.

Thanks for your thoughts, I'm glad you liked it.
It's supposed to be a relatively quick experience, so most things are kept pretty simple. If I found more time to work on it I'd have tried to improve the art. I'm pretty happy with the pacing, but I agree that luck plays a big part in some runs.

Fun little game that's simple and to the point. A little more rock layers and upgrades would be welcome. Also, just a heads up, when you break through to China right when time runs out the game freezes.
