Reviews for "Koan"

Very good game, it got me right away, the only problem is when I was about to finish the game on the level "Follies of the Ego" I got to a checkpoint with less keys than I needed and now I need to start the game all over again because reset button will only take me to the checkpoint with a door closed and no keys left. You should add a reset button to start the level all over again.

zenmasters responds:

Hey man. Thx for the review. I'm pretty sure you can finish the level, just look around it and keep zen : ) Hope you don't reset your save ; )

Interesting concept, good music and graphics. I don't think there was a game in which you need too meditate your way to the end of the level. I like it.

Hey! :)
Nice to see you here ;D
Great game man. I really enjoy atmoshere.
Great sound and music work!

Breathtaking. Rarely ever do puzzle platformers go an extra mile, and actually make an adventure of themselves, and this is one of those rare cases.

First of all, I'd like to say I love the traditional eastern music, and the beautiful atmosphere set with the graphics and sound effects. It's relaxing, and allow for concentration without disruption too.

I like the gameplay a lot, it's all about meditating, opening new paths with blocks and just overall being patient to reach the goal. The reason why I say this is a puzzle platformer that is also an adventure is that, first of all, the stages are in general much more interesting and more demanding of exploration than in most puzzle platformers I have played (most puzzle platformers I have played are in-your-face enough to require zero exploration, and that gets lame after a while).

Also, there are some parts in which you must be clever, and some stages are intelligent enough to attempt to distract you from your goal in order to test your focus, and that's just awesome (that one stage where the key is slipping down, for instance). I like how the more you progress through the game, the more serious, interesting and dangerous the stages become (eventually fire breathing demons are added to the mix, and then come tame demons, and all other kinds of awesome stuff). The "killing Buddha" part was pretty epic too.

I like the "life lessons" in between each handful of stages, where you sit down with the master to hear words of enlightenment, those are pretty cool, and sometimes pretty serious (if you're too proud of yourself for having achieved enlightenment, you're doing it wrong!). Also, there's actually a plot that gets thicker after a while (not too thick, but I won't spoil) that also serves to teach a lesson.

There's a bug, though. Sometimes, when I retrieve the game from a checkpoint, I still have all the keys and blocks I had before, but they are available for pickup again, making it so that I can cheat the game through restarting.

Nice, very worth a play, and highly recommended.

ALMOST perfect.
