Reviews for "Franken Runners"

Nice animation.

Great game. Some glitches, but I saw your reply to the comment that mentioned that. For full effect, play the song Chariots of Fire (theme of the movie of the same name) with all of the game's sounds turned off. lol

Its like bannana kong

The first thing you're going to see is the score. And of course, you're going to want to know why.

So, set's dispense with the pleasantries and get straight into this, shall we?

For starters, the gameplay is really, really simple, and gets old very fast. The matches last maybe a few seconds at most-- definitely less than a minute-- and aren't very thrilling. That would be because there's not a whole lot of challenge here. In fact, the game is almost insultingly easy, and if you've ever played any platformer ever, with any amount of competency, you will almost never lose a match. You don't run faster the further you go, traps don't become more closely spaced, there aren't any new obstacles, or new mechanics introduced as you go. It starts easy, and just stays that way.

But, you recall that I said "you will *almost* never lose".

I say "almost" because the platforming itself is kinda shoddy. I find that you'll often become stuck on the side of platforms if you're even a tiny bit off, and there is no margin for error on anything else either. I recall that, in one round, I cleared some spikes, and got stuck midair as if I had touched them. In another, I landed on a platform, and got stuck because the game thought I had hit the side of it or something. That shouldn't happen.

Now, all of that? That's a huge problem. Platformers, at their very core, are all about problem solving. They're about fast thinking and faster reflexes. This one just doesn't deliver in that department.

Beyond that, there seems to be a lack of stages to choose from, and none of them feel really distinct from one another. Running through the dark forest? Well, that's fine, because it has the same traps and pitfalls that the castle does. Not a whole lot of variety. Again, not very interesting.

Now don't get me wrong here; this is a good concept, and I kinda wish there were more games like that. However-- and I really hate to say this-- this just isn't very good. It needs a lot of work and improvement.

With work, I know this can be a good game.

Anyway, I hope you've found my review to be both informative and helpful. I wish you a wonderful evening.

WingonStudios responds:

Thank you for your feedback, it's precisely this kind of feedback we need in order to know what we need to work on to make the game better.

SO GLICHY!!!!

WingonStudios responds:

Yeah, we know the game can be a bit glitchy sometimes, and that totally sucks!

Sadly though we can't afford private servers yet, which would solve most glitch problems. But if the game gets popular enough (fingers crossed) getting that is on the top on our To Do list for the game.
