One problem with crafting is that there are no recipes for the materials.
Perhaps this was on purpose to make us guess?
How about instead if we find them randomly or complete quests for recipes to each craft-able item?

Has potential but the price of health potions scales up way to quick with no way to reduce the amount, there needs to be some descriptions of what the runes do, and it needs tool tips that tell how much the things you forge increase your stats.

What are the different kinds of pickaxes used for? To me, the higher rank pick you use, the nicer the "hit" is. Or do they just have a higher chance to get better ores and more quantity.
