This game rocks Newgrounds(as long as you know what you are doing)
I hate it when people say this game sucks! At first I thought that they would give it an overall rating of about only as low as 5 or 6 but HOLY GRANDMA these people are the harshest criticks and maybe even BASTARDS* when it comes to voting on some REALLY GOOD SHIT!
How to have a better game play experiance:

I'll start by saying: hit the Q key on the keyboard when the graphics start to bug you(hit it till' it says Low). Then when your on the first level (your in your fighter and you have to survive for 2 minutes while confusing the enemy capital ships) make shore* you read how to play!
One major issue: Everyone is calling this great game GAY because they don't know HOW to DODGE the capital ships' ION Beams.
How to dodge the alien capital ship's ION Beams: When your crosshairs/targeting thingy turns yellow keep it on the left or right side of the screen for steering, you can also move it onto the uper and lower parts of the screen to dodge capital ship fire too. Note:you have to wait until you actually seem to move into the wanted direction to work.
Second issue(this is just a little issue I had a while ago but other people seem to have it too):people don't realize that this new gameplay involves the keyboard a lot more than before.
when you land and use your shotgun, you have limited shot, but unlimited ammo, before you have to reload, When I ran out of shots for the first time I kept clicking really fast which prevented the reload and I died, to reload your shot gun hit the R key on the keyboard. Also when you want to swich to a different weapon when you aquire machine gun ammo or something else hit the 2,3,4, or 5 key on your keyboard(4, and 5 can only be accessed in the 3rd level.)
Have fun!...or am I forgeting something?...Oh well...

The Intro (or the first intro) was really cool, and the second intro made sense(thats all I can say about the intros). The 1 level was cool, but, it isn't and it makes the entire game look bad IF you don't know how to play it right!
The 2nd and 3rd levels were FUN and tough, and the toughness was the thing that made it fun. I liked the landing seen, the war seen was really cool!
The Final level was hard and it goes by really quick which is a convenience because of that bad-ass muth'a fu*kin' boss. And I like the ending real...dramatic...yeah, dramatic.
After I beat this like a million times, I was checking out the reviews, to see if there were any bastards* that said the game sucked(cause I was kinda board...)And I actually found cheats for CI3, Which I thought there were none. After trying these cheats, it made the game a little more exciting!
If there are more cheats than the ones I currently know, it would make the CI3 game even better than it is to me right now, (Which is pretty unbelievably good!)
Oh yeah, and the graphics were obviously the best because you have "BEST" as one of the quality settings, one of the settings that can't even be accessed by right-clicking and selecting the quality.

It would be great that whenever you get into the mood to make another Flash game, you'd make Combat Instict 4 (Even though it says THE END at the end of C.I.3)

Thanks for writing this long tutorial/review. Its always nice to read which details people liked, and which they dont. Oh, and the "best" quality setting is actually built into flash. it filters all the bitmaps (removing all the blockyness). youre right about that you cant access it from the menu
