Reviews for "The Raise (Revised)"

To be honest, I only found out about this from Restuprae, but I guess it's not bad for 2000. Eh, 3 stars.

My mistake was miscalculating my worth in the eyes of my boss? I never even got a chance to ask about my worth. My conversation went like this:

Boss: blah blah anniversary
Me: Get a horse?
Boss: Funny. What do you want?
Me: Do you have a pet?
Boss: No, that's disgusting.
Me: If your wife needed life-saving surgery, wouldn't you do what you could to save her?
Boss: How dare you compare my wife to your cat!
*Game Over*

First he lied about having a pet when he clearly has a pet mouse on his desk, and then he got offended when I compared his wife to my cat, despite the fact that not only was that not what I was saying, but my cat hadn't even been mentioned until he said something!

And even if the conversation had mentioned my cat, I was quite clearly trying to get him to admit that he would do anything he could for someone he loved, so doesn't it make sense for me to do everything I can for someone I love?

Also, you gave all this background on me, but you failed to mention that my boss is a lying, selfish jerk. If I were actually in that situation, I would have known my boss' personality prior to even attempting this. You can't call this a realistic situation if you don't give us all of the prior RELEVANT facts before we start. I'd think his personality is pretty damn important.

And aside from all that, what kind of horrible person not only hates animals (except, presumably, his desk mouse), but refuses to acknowledge that some people consider a pet to be part of the family? If you don't consider an animal to be a companion, fine, but don't be a dick about it.

The flash wasn't half bad for 2000. The animation was choppy, but solid for the time, and the music was a nice touch. However, there was one fatal flaw. The title was "the raise", but you never actually get your raise, just some work on the side if you're successful, and that's after going a rather convoluted route. If you actually tried this dialogue with your boss, well, it would not go well.

it's good!! :D

A triumph in human psychology simulators! I highly recommend playing this game for real life practice when it comes to dealing with any superiors in the work place, it's guaranteed to bring success.
