Reviews for "One Arrow (Ludum Dare 28)"

i suppose its kind of fun... the fact that there wasn't any music was disappointing and made be a bit disinterested. You should try to remake it and spend more time on it than 72 hours. maybe add an upgrading mechanic next time?

Some points:
-The shooting was glitchy and the aiming possibility was rather limited.
-I managed to get to wave 20 or 21, and after that the enemy waves seemed to reset back to level 0. I don't think this is intentional. You should add an ending here.

TiRSO responds:

1. Shooting issue has been fixed.
2. That's intentional, note that you have 30 seconds less every time you complete one full round (20 waves). Not ideal but we didn't want to have a maximum highscore, wanted to test the limits of the players in terms of speed and precision.

Good game, but there are some flaws. Namely, I find it confusing that you are unable to kill the enemy that shoots homing missiles in the period between when their shields are down and they actually launch the projectile; Though this is likely intended, it is not intuitive and feels like being punished for having good timing. In addition, I was having a good run until I encountered the invisible enemy/timeout glitch. More enemy types and damage effects (e.g. knockback in addition to knockdown).

Where's the pause button? This basic function is not present.

The game is ok for me.

And just when i start to think that all the good flash ideas have finally been done, a little game with an "other" tag surprises me yet again. This game has an excellent idea as it's foundation, and it also carries a visual appeal as well. Having said that, the evident glitch issues cannot be ignored, especially in a wave game, where a simple glitch can sabotage and or ruin a potential high score run. Also what cannot be ignored in a long-term wave-based game is music, or in this case sound. To me, it sounds like i'm wearing conch shells as earmuffs. Not my choice of music, but hey, to each their own. This game, while it does need some tweaking, still earns a solid 3 stars from me for having an interesting idea as it's basis. But i don't think it's finished quite yet, this can absolutely be built and improved on. Change the sound (or don't), fix the bugs, and maybe tweak the hitboxes a little for terrain and enemies (terrain smaller, enemies bigger), and you'll have more than earned my 5 stars. Thanks for reading ^_^
