Good stuff. The visual effects and music make it all worth it. It could use a tiny bit more polish, but for a 48-hour 1-person project this is pretty awesome.

Zanzlanz responds:

Thanks very much!
I probably overworked myself, but I am really happy that it turned out just like I imagined it too :)

I spent an hour fixing a couple bugs to put on Newgrounds, but if I put more time into it, I'd improve collision, particle-lag, and animations.

Got to Level 6 before lag killed me. Ball didn't want to respond to commands even after it came back. Fun game, though. Simple design, controls intuitive, music loop's decent enough it's not annoying. The powerups all have an actual purpose and are worth going for, even though the health powerup actually becomes less of a lifesaver the more health you lose, since it seems to only give a percentage of current health, rather than total health. It's cool when you can get near-full life if you're above half health when you collect the box, but for it to then only give you one extra hit when you're near the end of your life bar it almost becomes a weighing of whether I want to actually bother with getting it in a crowded field.

I'm not taking points off for the lag. Neat game.

Zanzlanz responds:

Edit: Done

Edit: just checked the code. The health power-ups do give you the percentage of the total health, BUT the health multiplier actually REDUCES the percentage... so oops, will fix that immediately.

I hope that's not what's going on with the health!! I'll have to fix that asap when I'm on the computer!
Thanks for the great review, everything you said was helpful :)

Simple but fun and addicting

Zanzlanz responds:

I could definitely use this as a basis for a more in-depth game in the future :D
Thanks!

Nice, but a little easy. 4/5 :]

Zanzlanz responds:

Thanks! I understand it's a bit easy... but if I make the sequel, I'll make sure it's much more difficult >:D

I wonder how people make this kind of games in this short amount of time...

Zanzlanz responds:

It's crazy, honestly!

If you want, check out my timelapse. It might give you a good idea about how much work goes into every hour. :)
