First: How to play! Choose 'simple' mode. Then just click. 'Touch' mode seems a bit buggy. But in 'simple' mode, you'll have to click to the top to start moving downward again.
You've put some effort into this game, Quikding, and kudos for that. It has a real 8-bit feel, reminiscent of the Adventures of Lolo, and Lolo is one of my all-time favorites. The advantages of each weapon do draw enough of a distinction that they are not all the same. That is a nice plus. The difficult of each level advances just enough that the curve is not overwhelming, but challenging.
I do agree that there should be some kind of tutorial in place. Perhaps a few more dimensions to the game as well, like weapon upgrades for picking up the same thing twice. I enjoyed the cute phrases each lost adventurer spouted, too.
My final suggestion would be to also tone down the audio quality of that "thank you for rescuing me". Otherwise, a crisp .wav file in the middle of an otherwise 8-bit game seems out of place.
Still though, a fine effort. I recommend the speed boots and the fire staff, myself.
