Reviews for "The Ruins of Machi Itcza"

I found the gray areas boring and the ending was anticlimactic, but other than that this was a really fun metroidvania.

Great puzzles to test your skills. Well done!

Love the game and the ending. The level design is solid, particularly with the way the levels tie together. My only really complaint is that the controls could be a little tighter, and while I understand the point of the color changes going out, the black and grey gets a bit bland, particularly since it makes up such a significant portion of the map. Perhaps just make the colors noticeably duller but not quite completely gone. Pretty minor nitpicks, though.

For those confused or complaining about the ending, reread the intro, you're collecting the keys to unlock the meaning of life, so the ending makes a subtle philosophical point. Life is about the journey, not the destination.

I really like that song, is there a non 8 bit version of it?

I like how 'slow' the game is, it's more about planning than having high reflexes.

I usually don't like platformers but this one was nice.

The ending gave me goosebumps, seriously.
I understand why some people don't like my interpretation of the ending is [SPOILER]
that the whole search for the keys drives the character insane. I believe you even made a short reference to that at the very first screen when you entered the other end of the screen as soon as you left it. After that it didn't work that way until the ending.
Perfect ending for the whole meaning of life thing in my opinion.
The gameplay itself could've been a bit more challenging/diverse.
