Reviews for "The Ruins of Machi Itcza"

Not bad, but could go further. I thought the character moved a little too slowly (I got that "slowdown" glitch every once in a while too), and some parts of the game felt a bit repetitive. Having some upgrades might help, or maybe some weapons. Just a bit more of an obstacle than a maze and a few easy-to-dodge hazards. The ending, while interesting, was a bit disappointing. I also have no idea what that one heart did that I grabbed out of mid-air.

I was glad to finally see a game where you can properly moderate your jumps. The exploratory angle did a lot for me as well. The music was decent and playability was great.

That being said, I don't know if this is on purpose or not, but I got 12 out of 13 keys and cut through the center area and the game just had a seizure on me. After that I was stuck in that room and could not continue. As good as this game is, a bug like that kills it. If it was on purpose, then this is a curveball which I have no idea how to get around. 2/5

Using WASD, pressing D causes the sound to turn off. Not that you'd ever need to press "down" in this game, but it's very annoying.

I liked the levels, the development of each set of levels, and the overall ambient of the game; the music was also very good. The intro got me interested but the ending was kind of out of place for what kind of feeling the game was building up for me.

I just wish to thank you for the feelings you brought back from the C64 era. This game is simply something that could have been made by C64 or amiga programmers. Excellent sound and physics and outstanding 8-bit like music. Thank you! 5/5
