Reviews for "Misadventure"

Amazing. I loved the monsters. You were really creative on making us find ways to get past them. Like the giant thing that blinks when you're moving, and the black spider that shifts behind walls. It was like being in a horror movie. I also loved everything you did with the tv and background, adding a realistic feel to it.

There was one thing that threw me off, and I love it now that I figured it out. In the black room with the moving static block, the shuffling noise made me think there was another monster somewhere. So, to get the medal for killing everything, I spent forever trying to stab outside the static before just giving up. It was a bit unorthodox to wait until the end to tell me if I killed them all yet. Just another thing to mess with people, I assume.

Music was great, sound was excellent, theme gets two thumbs up, originality was outstanding. The fact alone that the demons shifted from blocky atari graphics to more defined demonic creatures not only played into the storyline, but was to me unheard of until now. And, frankly, I enjoyed the original Adventure and have it, which only served to sweeten the game.

Thank you for putting so much effort into this.

Matzerath responds:

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review! The blinking monster is actually my favorite -- I thought it was the best use of an actual old school quirk (blinking sprites) as a challenge to figure out.

Wow, this was a great tribute to the Atari classics! Not just that, but it really brought forth a real sense of horror when you were playing it. Favorite part: the fact that, as you die more often, you actually start to drip small pixels of blood behind you.

Great game, Also does a great job at paying tribute to the classic Atari days. Only thing I have to complain about is having to sometimes guess on what to do with some enemies. The Static Room and Red Demon Room come to mind, For example.

Matzerath responds:

That's also a tribute to old games. The originals were truly demonic that way, to the point where us poor kids were like, "What am I supposed to be, where am I, and what the hell am I supposed to be doing?"

It really reminds me of that old Atami games or whatever

Absolutely a blast to play! So simple yet so fun at the same time!!
