I'm a military historian and enthusiast and this is pretty neat.
The reason the American flag appears backwards on US military uniforms is because it's supposed to look like the flag in the direction it waves when it's being held by a soldier on horseback in the cavalry.

my father is in the military, maybe not the marines or the army rather Navy. Either way this image brought a small tear in my eye since it had somewhat of an unseen emotion that could only be expressed through a white outside relief from the center focus of the soldier. very well done.
