Reviews for "Pink Lemonade | 2013"

Feeling the chill, big time. Love the air on the chip pads and the integration of some non-chip synths to augment. Reminds me of Lifeformed, who did the Dustforce soundtracks. The low-pass filter on the drums (and the whole track?) kinda overstays its welcome. I figured it was just for the intro and would ease off, but then came to realize that it's more of a permanent "pink noise" EQ treatment. Give some more love to your treble dude! It wants to break out.

Bertn1991 responds:

Thank you so much. Yeah, maybe some aspects overstay their welcome. Ah well, I'm glad you enjoyed it for the most part. It's good to know that someone was feeling the chill : ) Respect.

Great change of pace for chipstep music! It's more "chip" then "step",But I still don't see why "professinals" don't like this. It makes me feel really warm inside. But,It's a bit TOO Slow. 4 stars.
.w.

Bertn1991 responds:

Thank you very much for listening! Your review made me smile. I would agree that it is a bit slow and repetitive. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though. Four stars is quite an honor coming from someone who's clearly very honest.

Them professinals just don't get it ;^)

I wasn't gonna write reviews because reasons, but I can't just ignore this one.

I really want to love this tune. Like, frustratingly so. Give your high end some love man! I started losing interest in the track because I couldn't get over the fact that I felt like I was listening to it through a wall. From what I can hear the melodies and atmospheres you're creating in this track are awesome and just up my alley as far as music I like, but I can't feel immersed if you don't take off that low pass filter.

Bertn1991 responds:

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it somewhat at least. Sorry if it wasn't quite up to snuff. Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I really do appreciate it : )

I stopped reviewing the submitted tracks for time reasons as there are quite a bit to score and quite a few are very lengthy such as yours (9 minutes!) but I'm sorry I had to review this one.

Same reason as TimerClock below me. I would have easily given this 1.5 - 2 more points out of 10 than I scored it currently if you didn't make your entire track sound like it was high passed for no apparent reason. I'm sorry if I come off strong but it really bothers me - you have such a nice track, I love the melodies and synths, and you cut off half the freqs :( Good luck in the contest, cheers.

Bertn1991 responds:

The goal was to mimic the sounds of old arcade games like the original Donkey Kong or Pac Man. They had this muffled sorta sound that really resonated with me. That's why it sounds the way it does. I didn't make the song for anyone but myself, but I can see where you're coming from to an extent. Three or so people have complained about the sound in this song now. I honestly can't understand why people are complaining so much. When I listen to it, I don't hear anything wrong. I love the way it sounds, but I guess it's more of a personal thing. The song is meant to sound different. Sadly people don't feel the same way as I do. Oh well. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, buddy.
