Reviews for "Monster Next Door"

As they say, don't judge a book by its cover.Since I already adore clay animation, the touching story is just icing on the cake. The characters are so amusing you can't help but love them.I hope we get to see more of them.

Well, the art style is unique and it was done well, but it leaves much to be desired as in the monster gang criminals and it just ended so abruptly that i didn't know it was the ending. It could've been a animated more smoothly as well. This is just me but your main character annoyed me... so much... he seemed extremely desperate... annoyingly so. But it was good.

The video didn't upload in its entirety I think... But the animation was SUPERB.

RocketheadAnimation responds:

yah.. T.T i think its fixed now, pls watch it again if u got the time.

Good, but needs work.

The Animation was the strongest point of the piece. Complex and fluid use of 3D animation, attention to detail, and great blending of 2D, 3D, and still frame animation. Loved the variation of artistic style.

The Voice Acting really distracted me. Almost every single line was oversaturated hammed up and turned into hyperbole. The writing was fine, but, save for the introductory radio, both characters voices sounded incredibly overacted, and phony.

The Premise, the fable-like tale of prejudice and judging books by overs, was nice- well written, clever dialogue that could have been capitalized on a little more.

Lastly, the ending. It seemed to either be rushed, unfinished, or an incomplete story. There was no real resolution. The only indication that the film ended intentionally were the still motion frames and the shift in art direction. There was no closure to the plot- I watched the film again just to make sure it didn't cut out early.

You know what you're doing. Keep up your work, your artwork and writing is great, next time, you might want to hold more rigorous auditions for voice actors.

Cheers,
J

Looks like Pixar in the 90s.
