Reviews for "Robot Phone Home"

What an absolute shame. This was a great series of games. So why ruin it by adding the most annoying and overused ridiculously unrelaistic move in games today..the wall jump. Note to game desgined...ENOUG ALREADY. It was sort of a cool idea OVER A DECADE AGO. (actually...not really, it was always stupid forthe sheer asburdity of the notion that you can climb a wall like that.)But now, it is just a dumb way to add difficulty. MAYBE you can add it for a few levels. But when you make pretty much every level be wall jumping in between spikes, it jsut makes the game annoying and not worth playing. I would have thought the "Robot" games were above that sort of thing. The one star is solely for the fact that I went back and played some of the older games of the series.

I like the artwork, and the controls aren't too bad. The save points messed me up going through all of the absurd spikes and I saved at the beginning by mistake.. which was my fault... but once I get frustrated with a game it's over. Too many out there to play. Jetpack ability sooner would be great.

Beautiful. Atmospheric. Garbage.

This has only the potential to be a great, and I hate to use the term "art game" but it fits here. Exploration and discovery are always a plus in these sorts of games in my book, yet the calm and peaceful tone was utterly decimated by the incredible difficulty. Trying to make it over a pit covered in instant death over and over and over, every time having to make your way through the same two rooms just to get back to where you were and fail yet again leads only to frustration and stress.

To make this into an enjoyable and playable experience I would humbly suggest that you make progression through the stages far less difficult by: A: Removing most if not all spikes in difficult to navigate areas. B: Increasing the number of checkpoints so one wouldn't have to repeat areas exponentially. C: Adding an on-screen fuel gauge after you pick up the jetpack.
