Reviews for "Robot Phone Home"

This was very disapointing. The art style was "ok" I guess but not really good. Very few sound effects/music but I can see why that is. the gameplay was simple but ok, I just wish the screen followed your character rather than you go to different sections though. That was EXTREMELY annoying. The game was WAY to hard, I still have yet to beat it due to the fact that they're are not enough checkpoints. Yes, this game is that hard. And the game is hard in a bad way. Even though there was not much sound, it was good sound.
gameplay: 1
art/graphics: 3.5
music/sound effects: 4
overall: 2.5

I like the artwork, and the controls aren't too bad. The save points messed me up going through all of the absurd spikes and I saved at the beginning by mistake.. which was my fault... but once I get frustrated with a game it's over. Too many out there to play. Jetpack ability sooner would be great.

First off: nuoh mah gawd, dat atmosphere. The art style is simple and sweet, and combined with the absolutely gorgeous sound effects and ambient noise (which are strangely reminiscent of those relaxing "sounds of nature" dealies, which is weird 'cause I've always hated those) creates an invitingly bittersweet world I want to explore for-goddam-ever. That said, the sudden transition from slow, take-your-time-and-enjoy-the-scenery exploration to so-many-spikes-you-don't-even-know platforming is jarring and, in my opinion, unfortunate, as it clashes with the otherwise pleasantly relaxing aesthetic of the game. I almost feel like this would've been better as a straight-up art game, with a stronger focus on exploring post-human Earth in all its pixelated, moss-eaten, ivy-covered glory. I guess what I'm saying is, you've got a great style artistically, and now you just need to master the gameplay half of it. Keep it up, mang, I'm excited to see what you roll out next.

The soundscape was definitely very relaxing, in contrast to the difficulty in getting around the spikes, which kind of defeated the purpose of it for me. Meandering in the parts before the jetpack were very mystical, but after that I started losing focus on the ambience and was mottled with frustration, which I guess does give this game challenge. The end was kinda anticlimactic, but at least balanced with how it began. Overall, I thought it was pretty cool. Lovely use of sound effects in a soothing blueish world.

Great Game.
One thing i don`t understand though...
Why did humans leave so many spikes behind?
