Pretty good. After playing many Madden games from early 1990s on I've usually steered clear of football games. To me it gets old. It's essentially the same game as last year (aside from a roster change of a few players) and adds some new gimmick to get people to buy it (wooo I'm going to rush out and pay 60 bucks to see grass stains on my player's jersey! ). This game is simple and fun, and doesn't try to be a Madden clone.
I do have a few gripes:
1. After learning the basics, you can pretty much fly through the first few levels, and then it become much too difficult, even with upgrades. I believe I got stuck on level 6-7 of the Veteran rank. I enjoy a challenge, but I DON'T enjoy impossible. I imagine the upper levels are even MORE frustrating, and I don't wish to spend 50,000 hours perfecting my skill at a casual game. It's not like I'm going to compete professionally or something.
2. Disposable upgrades are a PITA. If I buy 3 blockers and a few other upgrades and lose (which happens very often) I can be out a few thousand bucks and it becomes a grind-fest on the bonus rounds to get enough money to barely squeak by the next level. At the very least, make it so the blockers are permanently bought until you conquer the level you bought them for. The blockers don't seem to give a huge advantage in most situations anyway, and in some situations, can be a hindrance.
3. Every defensive player is number 53. It did give me a laugh though.
