Reviews for "Anodyne Demo"

Well done man. The yume nikki influences are pretty apparent, and I can't wait to explore more. I'll probably end up buying the game just to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Good luck with this! I really hope that it gains popularity and becomes as popular/discussed/lore-driven as yume nikki.

Seagaia responds:

gee whiz I hope so too! We put a lot of time and effort into the design of every single place in the game...and how they relate to eachother, etc.

Man, this game is really good! I just got stuck after getting the "jumping shoes" and I don't know how to pass by the little brat inside the cave blocking my way to the chest...

i usually do running reviews where i list all the issues in a game one by one and then the author has a (usually complete) list of all the problems/issues/design flaws. then when the author takes my advice verbatim, their game becomes immensely successful.

but it seems like you did nearly everything right here. just one minor hiccup i noticed so far.

when you step on a checkpoint and hit 'c' it says "saving..." but never gives any feedback to let you know that your progress is saved. this is somewhat awkward and clunky. one is left to assume. but some might assume that it doesn't say "saved" because it didn't properly save due to some browser/flash setting.

Seagaia responds:

have you made a game before?

COOL!

"Anodyne" isn't just a "Legend of Zelda" knock off.
The game plays in a RPG world with its hero named "Young".
As humorous as the game is made, our hero Young defends himself with a broom.
The plot is thrilling, always reaching another climax of excitement when another level is entered.
It also recollects the image of "Alundra".
Too bad I'd rather call the game a rip off because it only is a demo and yet has such an individual personality.
5/5 stars.

How sorrowful. But I'm scraping my last cents together to get this game!
