Reviews for "Star Dust I"

I lost, because I cant afford to buy 25 uranium everyday.
What is the point of having an upgrade to the generator which causes it to change the fuel to one of the rarest materials in the game? It makes no sense, and the worst part is that you need it very early in the game. I only could upgrade the shield, the hangar and the cargo bay, and I needed a new generator for the turret. Its so early that by the time you upgrade the generator, you dont have an asteroid field with uranium and its too expensive in the market. You only have 2 options:

1- Get tons of resources, so you can upgrade the generator TWICE. That way, the fuel changes to hydrogen instead of uranium, so you avoid losing.
2- Dont ever upgrade the generator.

Its a shame, because I wasted a lot of time...

My entire evening just disappeared!

A few problems with this game:

Too unforgiving, 1 hit from a big asteroid and you are dead, and with the random meteor shower and pirate, you can lose some ships pretty fast.

Better ship has no bonus other than can have better equipments. There's never enough resource to upgrade hanger bay, buy a better jet, upgrade workshop or whatever, research tech in one go, so you are either stuck with new tech that you can't equip, or a new jet that costs twice as much, but has no bonus at all (and dies just as easily)

Need better UI. when equiping the jet, just < and > for a 2 path tree is not good

Need better UI. It's not well communicated or high lighted that when you upgrade reactor, you also need new power source.

After researching "the last thing", I had to leave game and come back for the event, also last battle is freaking laggy

Other than the points above, it was a pretty engaging and solid game

Game concept is absolutely great, i would play this for hours.
Unfortunately its bugged, and the actual combat (which is a rather important part of the game) is rather dull and simple.
Not to mention the immense amount of text in the intro and how-to-play.

By the choice of your title i can assume there will be a Star Dust II.
I really hope (really really) it wont have these flaws.

Those danged Glitches! First of all. If you save, and something happens later in the game to your station. Every single one of your saves takes that damage.
The hitbox on the ship is too big causing you to get hit when the meteor hasn't even touched you.
Missiles have a much smaller hitbox requiring them to be on top of the meteor before detonation causing the ship to get hit even if the missile is in front of the ship.

between starting out is hard as nails the other constraints and constantly loosing all of your resources repairing meteor strike damage keeping you from getting the anti meteor cannon it is dang near impossible to get anywhere.

That aside, its a great game, it just has some major balance issues.

very nice game although after a while it felt a bit repetitive. 2 things i had major problems with:
1) randomised asteroid and pirate attacks. my first run through on the game i got hit my an extreme meteor shower a month in and was killed. perhaps make the level for them dependant on the reactor level?
2) the game got EASIER as you progressed. while this is an interesting change in course i cant say that i realy liked it. put it this way. one of the starting asteroid fields its almost impossible to dodge anything due to theyre size. by the time i got to the point where i could gather darkmatter it was equivilant to shooting a cannonball at a pea.

also (SPOILER ALERT!) the final battle with the USL lagged majorly towards the end of it. it wasnt any harder to beat then the pirates (infact it was easier) just letting ya know that you may want to increase the firepower of some things and decrease the overall ammount of enemies onscreen.

besides all that stuff i found it to be a very nice game and im looking forward to the next one. this is just things to consider incase its going to be like this one here.

oh maybe mix in the occasional pirate in the asteroid fields? meh just an idea.
