Reviews for "Water Buboy"

Racism, racism everywhere.

Get's old really fast. It's not like we needed more of games like these. We have hundreds of these games out in this format. Nice try.

:( ....

You got the art and music, but the concept and physics is just messed? What does it even take to put out the fire? A continuous stream for a certain amount of time, or enough "blobs" hitting it? Anyways, I say the physics are WAY off because it doesn't even act like water, they're like perfect, solid circles and hit each other in the same stream, creating an inconsistent flow and I rarely get a straight line. The fires also take a ridiculous long time to take out. The puzzles take no thinking what-so-ever, but I can't complete them because it's just so glitchy.

I'm a "Pinoy"/from the Philippines. Let's stop being racist and/or nationalist. Review the game based on what the hell it is, not on who the creators are or who the people who support it are. I mean literally, Newgrounds asks you this - "Remember, you're submitting a REVIEW for this CONTENT. This isn't a place for you to make smug jokes, post stupid nonsense, or act like a total jerk."

Story: Many games have a story, whether the game is based and heavily relies on the story or the story is never really expanded into as it's just there to be there (get what I'm saying?), or there is none. The story here is that we're a firefighter putting out house fires that were caused by an erupting volcano with our trusty fire hose that has a certain amount of water that will run out. The story doesn't do anything else. To me, it just seems the author made up the story on the spot. I mean... a volcano? Really? Couldn't they have added a bit more creativity to this? I don't know what exactly could have been added, but is seems a bit bland to me. At least it was planned out.

Gameplay: The concept of using water ("tubig" in Tagalog for those who want to learn the language and to prove that I am either a "Pinoy" as I say I am or a master of Google, your choice) to achieve the goal (in this case put out the fire) is actually a bit good for a puzzle type of game such as this. It just got so boring, so fast. I got to level 6 and stopped because I'd figured by at that point, each level would just be a clone of the level before it, sure maybe with another twist. But... that twist would probably be expected and/or overused. Games are meant to entertainment for people. This just felt tedious.

Art: It looked like they used flash to make this and it sorta looked like (as an example) the game "Angry Birds." Not bad, but it didn't stand out either. Nothing to really say on this.

Music/Sound: I think I only hear one mindless tune over and over again. Remember I'v only played 6 levels of this game. And even then for the sort amount of time that I've spent on the game, that tune is just... ugh. Catchy at first but... juts turns into mindless background shit. And that water sound... gets a bit annoying.

Again, I've only played the game up to level 6 so this review may be a bit biased towards the fact that I gave up so early on it. But there's also the fact that I gave up because it was so bad. The only attractive part of the game was the art. And art IS supposed to be attractive. In all, I give this game one and a half stars.

This is my review and therefore my opinion and mines alone. Have a great day and thank you for taking the time and consideration into reading this.

"Proud Pinoy" as being the only comment on some of the "useful reviews" are unjustified. The reviews do not provide commentary on the gameplay, story or entertainment value of the game, nor do they give an accurate rating. It appears that people can't make reviews without being affected by nationalistic tendencies. It's really appalling how people could consider those reviews useful because they harbor undying patriotism for their country.
I would like to present to the table some objectivity. This is hardly anything original. It's one of those physics puzzle games where you have some sort of objective. I disagree with Kenmoor's review about all games needing to involve some sort of story. A lot of puzzle games do not require an elaborate story behind it. The volcano setting things on fire in this instance is sufficient. It's not an RPG or an adventure game, it's a physics puzzle game.
However, I do have some concerns with this game.
A good puzzle game should be challenging or fun, and this game isn't entirely challenging or too much fun. Much of it has to do with trial and error, the puzzles are very simple and easy to figure out. Sure, the game has its moments, but it gets boring easily.
Other than that, the physics in this game is not accurate. Sometimes the burning houses would be immersed in water. In reality the fire would have been put out by then. Another thing that's problematic for this game is the consistency of the water. The water seems more like a semi-solid substance rather than a liquid with its blob-like composition. Additionally, the blobs have a propensity to bounce off each other and go in whichever direction. Whether a fire is put out or not in this game depends on the amount of water blobs which hit the fire, and not on how powerful or constant the stream of water is. This is not the case in real life. It is well known that fire is easier put out by a strong and constant stream of water. If you only periodically drop buckets of water on fire (not constantly), it would give the fire a chance to flare up again.
Don't get me wrong, the game is not entirely a let-down. The gameplay is at least passable, though undeniably unoriginal. It is not, in all respects, bad/ It is entertaining for a short while. Despite its flaws it could be considered a mediocre time-waster. Don't expect anything innovative, new or amazing in this game - it won't offer you those things. It is just short mindless fun.
I guess the enjoyment you can derive from this game could be comparable to the burning houses in the game. You can only take so much until you get put off of it.
