Reviews for "Rebel Sky Demo"

brilliant retro style game :) just one thing: whenever I die I get a screen with just my ammo details and stuff on it, other than that it is perfect :)

Hyptosis responds:

K, I just tried fixing that, hopefully it will work.

Really good, ofc it needs a lot of work, as it's just a demo. Didn't find any kind of bugs, mechanics work great for me, and the performance was outstanding, didn't lag nor sticky-keyed at any point. Maybe those helicopters were some sons of bitches, by the way in wich they come to you, sticking to the walls... (if intended, otherwise... I found a bug ! :D lol :P) And I was thinking, how about doing the entrance, up to the part where the lady explains the controls, not in 16-bit but in normal drawing, i think that your drawing style would apply perfectly and fit great in that part of the game, even better than 16-bit. Music is amazing, and fx seemed a little bit off, like the volume wans't that high. You should add an options tab. As to end, this is something I'd like to play. Stay cool ;)!

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks for the feedback, it helps!

Fun stuff I'd be interested in playing a more developed version.

One thing I'd mention, need a couple continues maybe...at the very least a restart button so you don't have to keep reloading the brower.

Hyptosis responds:

alright!

I love the 80's anime style of the characters, as well as the 90's style SVGA graphics, brings back so many memories of Commander Keen, as well as Blackthorne on SNES!
One thing that this game needs is improved sound fx when you pickup ammo upgrades, health, etc., so it adds that extra little bit of joy and a sense of accomplishment.
Other than that, I think you are on the right track, especially since this is just a demo.
I really hope you continue on this endeavor because I know myself and a lot of others here really enjoy these types of games, and this is no exception, keep up the great work!

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks dude. I think you really 'got' what I was going for! Blackthorne! Loved that game so hard. :D Thanks so much man.

Really great game that reminds me of Metal Warriors for SNES if it had the character progression of Metroid. I admit, I think the sfx can be sort of grating at times, because they seem to be low quality. Just not smooth enough, you know? Also, you are wanting feedback on system performance? I'm running a laptop with 0.5gigs of RAM and the game works great, had to zoom out my Firefox window a couple times to get the whole game to fit but it's alright.
Really like the weapons, albeit the controls seem sort of confusing sometimes...cramped really, I guess. Many people don't have number-pads to ease this, either, like me on my laptop.
I also think there could be more flashing lights and dynamic text-effects.
Really enjoyed the little profile of the pilot in the upper-left.

Stopped playing after I dropped down the deactivated lift shaft, got killed by those tanks at the bottom, and had to start the game over.

out of 10...
gfx - 8.5 (nice retro style)
sfx - 6.5 (somewhat fuzzy)
design - 8 (simple levels,good systems)
gameplay - 7 (poor reset, cramped controls)

I think it's really tough to tack down what exactly this demo does well, and what it doesn't. One thing is for sure, and that's that it LOOKS great so far. Perhaps some of the graphics need to be more dynamic, but I like them still. I really hope that you come back to this project, because it performs well and is a lot of fun so far.

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks!
