Reviews for "Salem"

Amazng. The Voice acting, the Music, The Animations, The Feeling Everyting!

one word EPIC!!

Fun little game, my only problem lies in the fact that when you turn left or right, the entire screen flips with you. It was rather annoying when trying to fight bosses and not being able to see them because I was running away.

Other than that, nice story, enemy design, and all that other good stuff.

the best game ive ever played !!

Short but sweet, if a bit iffy on the controls.

Let's start off with the appearance. The graphics for the game are very nice and are well drawn. The character and demon designs are excellent and interesting, and the game looks appealing even on the lowest setting. However, the graphics seem pretty poorly optimized. Even on the lowest it had some running issues, and in fact sometimes it wouldn't even acknowledge that I put it on lowest.

The characters are fantastic. Anselm is interesting, with him appearing to be a rather incompetent demon hunter that isn't too sure about his faith, and Zipp is a witty and fun demon with so much personality that he easily steals the show, and with some fantastic voice acting to boot. Not to say Anselm's was bad, but compared to Zipp's pizazz it leaves something to be admired.

The story was enjoyable, but somewhat weak. Where were the rest of the hunters? How come Anselm was so quick to trust a demon? However I gather that these plot holes are there from being the fact that this appears to be the first in a series, so I'll let that slide to see what happens in later installments. Besides, I think the characterizations between the two are good enough to ignore the story; Anselm and Zipp are fantastically written.

The music was fantastic. I especially like the music that played during the Nocxis battle, it did well with giving a sense of urgency that was required for that boss.

The main problem I have with the game though is the controls. They're pretty bad in some cases. For the most part it worked somewhat well for me, but sometimes the mouse would suddenly appear to be chugging, moving in directions I wasn't even moving it towards and going extremely slow; especially in the lantern mode. Even on the lowest graphics it would do that, so I assume it's something more than just graphic lag.

Despite the flaws, I really enjoyed this game. I hope to see more with this, I have a feeling this could be a great series. Keep up the good work, and good luck trying to improve the flaws!
