Awesome!!! Really awesome game!!! Love the simplicity and yet the you won't know what comes next... Keep up the great work!!!

squidly responds:

You're awesome!

I have but one question about this game, after playing it thoroughly:

Why, oh, why is this game so addicting?!

squidly responds:

Because I'm a devious mastermind who only wishes to drain this world of its free time.

Great game sir, I have just a few questions and comments.

First how do you get the best ending? I beat all the bosses first try and then the last boss, but I guess that's not it. It's bugging me x.x

Also, I must say, darkfolk are quite the OP class. As proof, I played nethack on a whim with my darkfolk and beat it first try, easily. Skipped right over medium difficulty as I don't have the medal for it.

Simple enough darkfolk setup for nethack:

Hope you survive the first few encounters since no health regeneration between rounds keeps you relying on luck to pick up a potion or two and a weapon upgrade.

From now on, only buy weapon upgrades and offerings at the speed altar. (explained below)

Do not buy any rune upgrades, only staff. Rune upgrades are pointless as I will show later.

Once you have the first staff upgrade, you can now 1shot anything with 30 hp with boom. At level 2 and 1 staff upgrade you can 1shot anything with 40 hp. Buying staff upgrades and leveling up will increase your damage enough to 1shot every enemy and boss till the end of the game.

The highest hp enemies in the game have 777 hp. So once you get the 20 mp staff you only need 40 power maximum to destroy anything in the game in one hit with boom.

Since you will be killing everything in the game in 1 shot you don't need rune upgrades since you won't ever be charging your mp. This frees money to spend on the speed altar which reduces armor. But you wont ever need armor since you kill everything in one hit. Dexterity, however is EXTREMELY important for the last world as almost everything is unhittable without high dex. I put it at around 85 before I go in to make sure I can hit everything 100%. (its probably a little too much but I have nothing else useful to put my money into.) Having some extra dex is good for the second world too so that you don't miss.

Missing at all, however, usually means death or a lot of wasted potions since you will only be recharging 2 mp at a time with your crappy starting rune. So just try to keep your dex at 30 or 40 going into the 2nd world and 85 into the 3rd.

So eventually your stats will look something like this
Dex 80
Pow 40
Arm -20

If you need to buy some power offerings early on to feel comfortable 1shotting the 120 hp wanderers or the 300 hp DM, feel free. Money is not that big of an issue since hp and armor are relatively useless. Easily the most OP build in the game.

I'll probably mess around more with builds on nethack later. Hopefully other people will find other viable builds for nethack but this one is hands down the best

Hmmm... Pretty awesome game!
Its reminding me of dungeons and dragons... Any influence?

squidly responds:

Probably :D

This is a great game with multiple choices, interesting plot and simple but engaging battle strategy.
Just one thing -- the random exploring is a bit rigged: there was one time when I did not even encounter an infirmary for 20 turns, and once I see 4 infirmaries consecutively. Also, the level jump in the dungeon is a bit drastic. Once I've reached the point of seeing the lonely adventurer and the drunken guy, the game becomes horrifying. I tried escaping 4 times and they all failed. They are wasting my potions and killing me out of the blue as they deals a rather wide range of damage so I didn't know whether I should use a potion or not.
