Not exactly. It does go back to the origins of the virus and kinda details some of that stuff though. Mostly through flashbacks but also various subtle imagery around the movie.

Fucking scientists, its always the scientists that alwayss try to do somthing but then ends up putting the world in to Limbo, and you know, I shot a guy once for being in the limbo, or was he doing the limbo?
