Reviews for "1-Button Suicide Javelin"

I think the idea of this game is really nice, but the "1-button" thing just doesn't fit right in this type of game. So with new controls this game would be 5/5.

JeffersonTD responds:

Thanks.

It was a quickly made game for the Mochi competition in July, and one of the rules was that it should be a 1-button game. Otherwise I'd probably have added one extra button for the controls.

Fairly good, really difficult as well. The 2 main problems are the 'demo' thing that pops up after resetting, which is kinda annoying, and really shoddy instructions. It took me a while to figure out exactly what to do and I didn't realise that you could press R to quick reset. I guess also, it is insanely difficult to tell where I actually am, some other sort of guidance would have been good.

otherwise a decent piece of fun.

JeffersonTD responds:

Thanks for the comment!

I suppose the demo screen can appear a bit quickly. I just wanted it so that people would directly get to see the demo to get the idea of the game.

And the guidance thing. There is the combination of seeing the javelin height and seeing the distance the player has to the javelin, but admittedly this is not as easy to interpret as actually seeing both the javelin and the player at the same time. This is the kind of feedback I will take into consideration if I am to make a sequel at some point!

Wow, this was a challenging game for sure. The last medal took me about 2 hours to get into the groove of things. I only have a few complaints with this game and the main ones are with the art/animation. The art for the runner was sub-par and his running looked very sloppy. The last thing is the camera view. I know it makes it more challenging the way it currently is, but if the camera zoomed all the way out after you threw the javelin I think it would improve the overall play of the game.

Interesting twist on the toss-type games though. Keep up the good work!

JeffersonTD responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it in general.

Both your criticisms are also well founded. The dude was very quickly scribbled and I never did a rehaul on him. A better camera view would probably also make the game more pleasant to play.

Neonspiders guide is good, but I recommend you try to start an attempt for the last medal w/ a 300+ throw. It's a bit more precise(just above the white of his head, don't stop rocketing), but gives a buffer for failed attempts. One great run, and a couple okay ones will suffice.

This was a tough game here and really about timing too but if you get it just right you will be good
