Reviews for "Kingdom of Liars 1"

I will start off by saying that this is the first of your games I have played. Unfortunately, even though I found the story interesting, I never made it past the tavern. It would have really helped if there was some sort of explaination of what the icons mean. Hoping to see improvement for you.

I really like your games, but here I'm lost. I'm stuck at the blue door. I've cut the wire, jammed the gears with the coin and stuck the shovel there. Now there seems to be nothing I can do. But still, I do like your games :)

I've gotten through the door but what now? How do I get the Fithling to safety?

BTW, for the door:
Crowbar= Pressure plate at the bottom, Shovel = spike trap on the side, Shears = wire ABOVE the tnt, Coin = gears above the spikes.

Despite not finishing it due to issues with being stuck (freakin point n' clicks and their confusingly placed items and missions) I think I've seen enough to make a decent rating.

Story: 3.5
A bit of mystery with an ominous feel to it. A little easy to get lost at times but it seems to be shaping up ok.

Gameplay: 2.5
Point and clicks have always had problems with item placement or confusing puzzles depending to much on lucky guesses but this one seems to have a particularly rough time with those faults. Items (like the shovel) are placed in locations that have nothing to do with the natural flow of things and it becomes a large succession of scavenger hunts that break up the story with boring "find the item". Another thing is that there are various obvious solutions to problems (like the sword laying on the ground in front of the door. How was that not useful?) Cut the wire, jam the sword into the spike trap, unlock the pad lock, stick the key into the gears, stick the the crowbar on the plate, and walk right in. The shovel, shears, and coin rendered unneeded right there as there was no other use for them. Make each item do more and place them in areas so it doesn't feel like you're just stealing random junk that your character has no idea what he's going to use it for yet. It will make the game better, trust me.

Visual:3.5
The art was nice though a bit "sketchy" for my tastes if you know what I mean. It matches the mysterious story feel of the game.

Audio: 3
I actually didn't even notice it all that much and had to go back and actually listen for it. It wasn't bad and also fit the game well. Unfortunately, it seemed that the ambient music stopped after the train scene. So while it was fitting for the game, there just wasn't much of it.

Overall: 3
Not bad and worth a little entertainment but I personally probably won't be coming back to the series very soon. I might check up a few months from now to see if you've improved in your future games though.

I think that this is a very good game. My only wish was that it was longer. I didn't much trouble figuring what to do in the game but then again I do think outside the box which helps. The story thus far very good, really left me wanting more. The graphics were done well. The interaction with the items in the game was good as well. I gave this a 3 out of 5 mostly because of the game being short but everything else was good in my opinion.
