They work fine. The API didn't connect for you. Newgrounds does that to me all the time.
I couldn't really play it because it lagged so much. I could barely move. I hope it gets fixed soon though because i still want to play it. So 2.5 is my rating.

It should already fixed by pressing Q twice (lowest quality setting)

Fun game, but the lag really kills it. I even tried playing on your site, and while it was better, it was still extremely difficult to control. If you could fix that lag issue it would be a much higher rating.
