Reviews for "Reaching Finality"

Superb use of music, and the game-play was top notch.
Any game that allows you to either race to the finish, or slow down and explore for possible bonuses is a good game in my eyes.
I must ask, did you create the menu music? If not, where can I find it? If so, where can I find it? It's a beautiful piece.

Kcori responds:

Thanks! I did make the music. You can download the soundtrack here: http://kcori.com/music/Reaching%20Finality%20OST.zip

Wonderful game, reminded me of Zelda a lot...but the glitches are a tad annoying. At times in the first dungeon I would start "walking" on the walls and above the designed play area and in the beginning of the first dungeon I paused after dying only to be killed by a bat and after that not being able to pause, move, or attack...meaning I had to refresh. Glitches are never fun, and they could be fixed a bit more, but other than that this is a very nice game.

In all honesty, I hate giving preliminary reviews, but I'll admit that I wasn't able to finish this game due to time constraints.

I think it's great fun. A bit slow-paced, but once it got into the Zelda-esque puzzles I knew I was in for some serious time. Were you also influence by Earthbound and Pokemon? The coloring of the artwork and the design of the landscapes suggests so to me.

Kcori responds:

I did play Earthbound recently, but I wasn't thinking about it at all when doing the art. It's VERY possible I was subconsciously influenced by it though.

The game seems good, unfortunately I die too often because of freezes. Don't know if it comes from the game or from my computer.
And I disagree with Nakrull, the bits of humor you put along the adventure made me smile, it's a pleasant personal touch.

I thought this game was really well done. It had a very "Zelda-esq" feel to it, which is nice. Though, in the constructive criticism department I might as well make the following suggestions:

1. The weapon swing can be a little slow when it comes to the spitting enemies, and it often results in them hitting you while you're running around attempting to line up a shot. Having him swing the fork like a baseball bat might fix that. Perhaps as an alternative attack rather than straight up replacing the stab motion.

2. Perhaps an ability to upgrade the fork later on? Near the end everything takes multiple hits, and with rooms full of enemies this can be a little on the tedious side. I mean you don't need to one shot kill everything obviously, but a hidden damage upgrade would be a good extra. Especially for a daredevil run.

I managed to find all but one of the hearts. No clue where to look for it. I thought it might be right outside of the shrine amongst the open section of the trees but I couldn't ever find a way past them. Ah well. Good effort, and it played fairly well (if not a tad bit on the difficult side. Though, I'd likely do better with a controller in my hand rather than keyboard controls for this kind of game).
