Reviews for "Wasted Colony"

A somewhat confusing spin on "Rebuild". While the gameplay and graphics are original, the concept and game outline is not. While I wouldn't consider this game a "cheap knock-off", I do consider it a "confusing knock-off". A little more originality and definitely a tutorial, and you'd have a great stand-alone game. Otherwise, 3 stars for the artistic effort, style, and solid programming. You'll get the other 2 from me when the game includes a tutorial and original storyline.

i disagree with mrsockz im already on day 17 and have found the raids quiet easy infact its a tad bit too easy and i still have no idea what the main point of the game is but it is interesting.

Same as everyone else, I'm afraid - it's unplayable. The fact I'm giving you 3 stars should be an indicator of how much potential there is here and how good this game could be.

Put simply, it's far too hard. I sent a team away to scavenge and recruit, suddenly a raid was upon me, and there was no way I could get anyone back in time. Game Over, simple as that. That's brutally unfair, and in no way related to my skill as a player.

Other items don't explain themselves. Recruiting missions are a success, but the icon remains over the buildings? So what, can I recruit again? Apparently not. Scrap seems a generic cash-based material that isn't particularly interesting. How much food does a survivor eat? Why can't I build those rooms? What resources are more important? You fail to explain any of this.

Of course, there are also horrible bugs, which need to be ironed out. Simple mechanics of the game don't work. It seems just a little rushed, and it's upsetting because this game could be absolutely fantastic with just a little work.

Go play Rebuild, one of my all-time favourites (or preferably the sequel), and go see what makes that game so great - it's not unfair, you just sometimes have to risk things for greater reward. Implement the best features of that game into here, and this could be a classic. Just don't punish the player just because you think that makes the game fun and challenging.

Through one of the reviews here I discovered a strategy that worked. I finished the game after 300 and some odd days and way to many hours to speak of. (Because I wanted to see how it would end.) Yes this game is really difficult, unless you take a snails pace like i did (Because the threat level seems to be dependent on how much area you uncovered.) its very easy to lose early on.

That said, I did like the art style and design of the menu as it was easy to use. The characters were pretty interesting too. (Take the priest. He heals EVERYONE by just being there, no first aid lab required.) Downside is again the length via difficulty, random danger jumps, confusing grammar mistakes, and not enough "Bruce Lie"

Can't say it wasn't fun at times though.
3/5

Seems to be a dumbed-down version of Reclaim. Lots of things I'd like to do, like backtrack a few days upon failing so I don't have to create a new save file each time. Build... I don't know.... a better wall? Also seems to be a discrepancy with Survivor recruitment. On the mission screen it'll display that I now have +2, +3, ect, survivors, yet it'll always be one less for some reason.
