it's okay. but it gets really boring and tedious, really fast

Really a top notch game. I can positively say that this is one of the most in depth games I've ever played by an indie developer. A lot of people have made suggestions about how to improve gameplay, some of which are truly brilliant solutions. My advice to you: listen in on what the players have to say, especially when it comes to improving the menu systems. You don't need to make the upgrade trees any more or any less complex, but having a way to clue people in on what they can and can't upgrade at the moment would make things much more manageable for newer players. Like many others have said, the all red interface can make things a bit frustrating for those who lack patience to hover over materials. Adding a subsystem or module upgrade to add color would make for an entertaining and interesting fix.

anyway, that's just my two cents on how this game could further improve. It's already amazing as it is right now. I would just keep these ideas in mind for a sequel, if you plan to make one.

I'm giving it 3.5 stars because it is playable and really only seems to need tweaks at this point.

Things like the inventory and crafting screens with them being all red tone actually (for me at least) make it hard to tell what I have without mousing over the item(s) in question. Just making everything a separate color would make reading it easier and I think improve the look of the interface.

Another thing is getting back to the surface is a MASSIVE pain in the ass because you can only jump and have to notch our way up a shaft (If you use the Motherload shaft technique like I do) to get back eating massive amounts of fuel, time, and more than a bit of patience.

Lastly drilling up (which is a big improvement over Motherload btw) is again a big pain to do, but for this I have an idea you either equip or build twin extending grappling claws that shot straight up X distance at level 1 and as you improve them they can reach higher. These claws once latched will pull the drill up and hold it at the top so you can drill and will keep holding until a second or two after you done drilling to give the player a chance to dig left\right or straight up again.

Again just idea but for me these were the biggest issues and I think once fixed you will have a good solid game here.

I thought this was a great mining game! I preferred that rigorous research/crafting of parts to the regular 'get the better mineral to upgrade further'. And the planet hopping was a nice touch too! I must insist on more!
I will say the items for fuel refills/auto repairs were a little redundant since you could just build a teleporter and pop up and refill/repair at no charge (and that wasn't very often mind you, basically whenever my inventory was full)
