Not bad, but I'm stuck on level 16, can anyone that past level 16 how to beat it? Yes, even you ApprenticeChief.

just something that made my experience easier: grind!
I got stuck at the second boss, so I started completing older levels without getting hit and could upgrade my wheapons to beat the boss.

My god. Perhaps one of the hardest games ive ever played.

a solid game with tons of upgrades and enemy variety, and decent music.
the weapons and mod selection is pretty good.

my only real issue, and the only thing keeping me from giving you a 5, is the pure, unadulterated, and unmitigated cheapness of all the bosses, atropos and the one before it specifically.

i have no idea how you though that a boss spewing that many totally unavoidable shots was a good idea, especially considering the few defensive options we get are kinda meh when up against that much enemy fire.

maybe tweak the bosses so they arent so ridiculously cheap, and it'd be a solid 5

The first game was amazing. One of my favorites.

this one... not so much.

Problem 1: Lack of defensive options. Okay, great, I get a shield that reduces damage. Which would be fine if it actually did any good, but There are simply way too many bullets flying around for this to be the case. If I'm gonna get hit, I'm probably gonna get hit more than once, and that's going add up very quickly regardless of any shields. The defensive lasers aren't much better, again due to all of the bullets flying around. They're really only great for taking out missiles, (which, by the way, are really fucking annoying. At the very least it'd be nice if they stopped chasing you after you killed whatever launched them), and their utility suffers.
In fact, none of the ship mods are very good, and this is further compounded by the fact that I only have two slots.
Focus runs out really fast, no matter how much of it you have. Considering how many bullets are flying around, it's pretty useless.

Problem 2: Lack of Offensive options. The only decent bomb comes really late in the game, and the weapons are all pretty weak by the end. Bullets lose effectiveness very early, which forces you to switch to rockets, which are still pretty meh until you get the homing mod, and even these don't even do enough damage fast enough by the end. Lasers and Flak are just plain awful. The plasma would be good if it wasn't absolute suicide to use. I'm not really complaining about the lack of bomb pickups, but considering how much punishment the baddies can take at the end, and how much more damage they do compared to you, it's really frustrating to have to rely on the bombs so much without a way to replace them

Problem 3: Kudos for beefing up the soundtrack, but unfortunately, the same three songs over and over and over again still gets really old. It probably would have been better to split the music over the separate parts of the game, IMO. One for the menu, one for the battle screen, one for bosses, etc.

The early game was a hell of a lot of fun though, I'll give you that. I wasn't breezing through, but I certainly didn't feel cheesed or cheated out of a chance of winning, like i did in the late game.

so, the TLDR here is:

The balance is screwed up. Big time. Weapons and defenses are pretty much useless by the end of the game; they don't do or mitigate enough damage. The achievement upgrades are pretty pitiful as well considering how much work is being put into them. I know that Shmups aren't supposed to be easy, but there's a line where it stops being difficult and starts being cheap, and IMO, you crossed that line. Difficult is fun. Cheap is not.

Sorry dude. I really loved the first game, and I can tell you put a lot of work into this one, but I just can't enjoy it.
