Reviews for "Man Who Sold The World"

I thought it was very well made game. The only problem I had was once I got to the Kenican village and I got to the water where you have to climb the vines, After I get past the first set of vines I just couldn't get to the other ones. Is there a secret to it or am I just stupid? Anyways im sure it would've been a game with a deep message which I usually like but sadly I couldnt finish it. So overall I give it a 3.5 :)

The game was definitely best on my first run through, but the endings didn't really provide any sense of loss or satisfaction, and just felt repeated after playing one of them. The WASD and arrow key controls weren't told anywhere, which was ok as they're pretty generic, and the vines took a little bit of thinking by needing to jump from them instead of just fall. It felt strangely straightforward being able to just run through to the end essentially, but convenient too to see how things would play out, and without being frustrating to the player, but also resulted in the feeling that there wasn't that much to it.
Overall it was good, not great or amazing, but good, and the decision you have to make does help call into question what is most important to you, something I personally wasn't sure of.

The soundtrack is truly wonderful. The gameplay, not so much. I like the idea, but there wasn't much interesting things to do. And... why is there no pause button?

The game is great from an artistic view point. I assume that was what you were going for, the play ability isn't very challenging, and the little orbs to find were a nice touch. A decent game in my opinion, but not the best.

A good art game with some unfortunate flaws. The story and soundtrack were compelling enough to make me want to play the game to the end. The minimalist graphics and simple gameplay, however, make a disappointing combination. The 'meat' of the game (that is to say, the story) is separated by fairly large platforming sections that don't have much to offer; they're basically a handful of simple platforms leading to more simple platforms eventually leading to the next bit of meat. It just feels like I'm being put through busy work as I meander my way through the repetitive stages. I would certainly recommend adding some extra elements (such as decoration, puzzles or obstacles) to keep things fresh.
