Reviews for "GARE"

****

1) too hard.
2) no starter funds.
3) too many enemies on level 1.

*I never give a no star rating on a game*

a lot of the sound effects sound like they were inspired from front mission evolved and transformers.
the only down sided to this game is the lack of detail. although you do see a difference of weapons, bodies, legs, and the projectiles, a larger model within the shop screen to show what your mecha looks like would be nice.
maybe for part two?

Def for GARE 2. Noted.

Mission 7 advice for players:
I found 7 far more difficult than the previous missions, but I experimented to win at it. Here's how you can pretty much breeze through it: you can't do the old sitting back far away and shooting at enemies tactic, you must move right through enemies to keep moving. Equip fast legs and the body that gives armor and armor regen. Now ram yourself into enemy units (still shoot of course). This will kill them and keep you moving at the same time. You need the armor because when you collide with enemies, you don't lose shield, but instead armor. Beating this mission with the old hang back and pick them off style is much harder. Get some fast legs and armor, and just move right through enemies while you are mowing them down. I did it with level 2 items but maybe someone more skilled could do it with less.

Okay, I just wanted to get that out of the way first in case a player was having problems on Mission 7 as I did. Now for the review:

This game has large sequel potential. I actually liked the music but you definitely want to make it cycle between more than one song. This keeps it from getting repetitive and it lets you inject different atmosphere's to the game's feel, and satisfies more music tastes between players.

Secondly, the physics and collision detection were a bit clumsy - I'd sometimes get stuck where the graphics and the physical barrier weren't aligned. A lot of people will get really turned off by that kind of misaligned physics.

Third, you did great making the maps nice and large. I enjoyed exploring them, and I was always looking forward to finding stars, which by the way was a great system for additional upgrades. I see some players complained that the map wasn't helpful enough, but I didn't mind it. It told me which directions objectives were in and I enjoyed exploring anyway, in fact I barely even looked at the map, just roamed and killed. If you make a sequel, a stage or world or option that is exploration-centric and just lets you roam randomly generated places or something would be pretty awesome.

Fourth, the graphics were kind of cool. Some players say that it wasn't very clear what things were exactly, and I somewhat agree, it might be better if you try to make the trees or fences or whatever a little easier to recognize, so we don't feel like we're just going around a big tangled wall of whatever it is.

The story didn't interest me that much, what really got me was the combat and exploration combo, and also the upgrading was cool. I guess that's about all I can offer for criticism. Good luck!

Truly an amazing game with well-thought level designs/missions, but could use a bit of polishing. At mission 10, I keep ending up with a black screen, and sometimes it won't even show the mission details, but from what I saw, I'm guessing it'd be a lot of fun to play. This is definitely a game that's worth playing, and I think I'd just about kill for a multiplayer. (already seems possible with the enemies using gear the player can use.) Overall, absolutely great, but may need a little bit more work on it. With this, I can expect great things from you, Prexen.

prexen responds:

Ty. Theres been that issue with black screens. Its a memory / flash player problem. On a sequel i already have the right game structure to solve those. I hope i can meet to those expectations :P
