Reviews for "TOME Episode 04"

I would suggest showing numbers for the amount of damage done. It would be interesting to see how little damage the noobs do (12) compared to the purple guy who regularly one-hit kos (4023). It also adds to the feel of it, not to mention that when he used the virus, the damage would be 3ERR and UNDEF

Hmmmm - I'm starting to get worried about his series. My fears from earlier a being realised. The plot isn't moving on quickly enough, there's no clear story arch, the whole thing seems far too episodic. The characters aren't developing fast enough, either. They are developing (There was a point where Nylocke acted seriously for once, we also learned a bit about the real lives of the characters, particularly Gamercrazed), but sure enough, they're starting to feel shallow. The only two characters I can say I feel are perfect are Kirbopher (probably because he's just real life Kirbopher) and Rockoon (because he's just too crazy-awesome for me to care about character depth. The Slime-guy, Demon King and the mysterious bad guy are also brilliant, real-feeling characters. I'd like to see more stuff like with Demon King, who had real life reasons and justifications for his actions. However, I understand that its a cartoon, and that it doesn't need to be too realistic. Maybe it feels uncomfortable because some characters are deeper than others.

Another smaller niggle is that, although it was overall entertaining, there were no laugh out loud moments for me (unlike in previous episodes). Maybe you're getting a little bored, running out of jokes - so spice it up a little! Make it more interesting! I know you won't want to change the story, but maybe if you make the characters more real, the jokes will come easier.

Overall, still an amazing, well done series with lots of time and effort put into it. Just don't let it get boring!

Thanks - a concerned fan

Kirbopher responds:

Thanks! I think maybe this more laid-back episode might not've been up your alley, but the fact that you're very invested in the characters themselves makes me think you'll really enjoy the next one. Stick with it!

I honestly love Tome I really do. I watched the whole original series and loved it BUT...

I can't get over the fact that there's no danger here... that whole final battle didn't draw me in at all...
because they aren't in any real danger since they're just in a game, so it's not exciting.
That's my only complaint.

Gotta say, I love the series. Nice potential. But i have a few things to critisize.

First off, dialogue, is GREAT! All the characters are consistent enough, and I do love me some littlekuriboh. But i don't much care for the red headed guy and the girl.. kinda dull. But hey, thats just me.

What i do have a complaint about is a more.. serious plot and a lack of explanation of hackers. I'll start with the ladder. What can hackers do? What are they limited by? I just don't get that... and hopefully a really engaging plot comes up soon enough. So far feels kinda... fillerey.... anyways good series :) I look forward to more.

So, finally cranked out Episode 4.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about the story so far, and the original TTA that this is a revamp of. While you are doing your best to retell the story, I feel you are, at the same time, drifting away slightly. Though it is nice to see updated graphics, and with it bring new ideas and jokes, I wish for the series to remain true to its original. like vidzthief stated, working on single character development every episode is not a good way to move the series along, but rather, build on it as the MAIN story progresses. Since we're already at episode 4, I was expecting we'd be getting close to Zetto's debut in TOME, or at the least, episode 5.
Also, following vidzthief, we'd appreciate it if you gave us a little more detail about why Rockoon wasn't able to "hear things" after Alpha gave him the missing piece of the ear, and technical detials like that.

However, that said, it is still a great addition to the series, but please, save ideas like this for shorts or sub-episodes, so as not to detract from the storyline you have already set out in TTA.
