It's all right, but it takes a long time to get going. It wasn't until hexagons appeared that I actually got hit for the first time. Also, it's frustrating when you level up and can't increase anything because it needs more points.
I do hope you asked to use Ironswine's idea. A solid shooter with upgrades, no more and no less. Not much by way of new and exciting ideas, but a playable game nonetheless.
Honestly, I didn't really think much of the "enemies are stronger on their color" implementation, because there really isn't a way to develop a strategy to combat this. It becomes nothing but "enemies will randomly become stronger" which is just a bit silly.
Slow, boring version of Battle Paint. Annoying music, too.
I know I've seen this before, i just cant remember the name right now, if this is based off that it's a crappy re-make. And if you used this idea without asking that's even worse.
You get a 2 for unoriginal, and not making anything than a standard shooter.
