Reviews for "Awesome Planes"

It's okay. I hate the control. it makes no sense for the plane to pivot around the mouse like it does... i would say it's comparable to the way cars turn in Midnight club, the pivot at the middle... which cars don't do that....

too easy, controls are interesting the setting is monotonous always the same, the enemies dont change and arent all that special, there's no story.

it's not great but it's good

Not Bad. But i think i heared the Music somwhere before.

it is the best game

Controls: I liked the momentum-based and mouse-following control scheme. It emulated a fighter plane movement in a nice way. The booster promotes skillful play to avoid damage and counterattack effectively. The weapon buttons are in their usual places, which is a plus. It was good decision to make bombs auto-drop, since manual dropping would have been too constrictive on the hectic gameplay.

Graphics: While the graphics aren't too flashy, they are appealing and pleasant to watch. The enemy design is somewhat unimaginative, but this is a semi-futuristic shooter, so it can be expected. It would have been nice to have multiple plane models as unlockables.

Gameplay: The "campaign mode" is too short. It provides 25-30 minutes of gameplay at best. The choice of only four weapons with 3 scaling upgrades is bland and boring. A branching skill tree could have been used. I found myself using only the machine gun and laser beam all the time, because of their continuous and accurate fire.
The movement scheme is good, but it is restricted to the small corridor. Gameplay in a wide open area with ground and an open sky to blow enemies into smithereens.
The map does not help much with immediate threat. It only helps in the beginning to get an idea of how many enemies there are and in the end to find the last enemies.
The survival mode is actually even more boring than story mode, because it lacks a sense of progression. Sure, more enemies spawn as time goes on, but I already started out with a completely upgraded plane and arsenal.

Music: Repetitive and bland. Although I did not end up having to mute the music (thanks to the overall short completion), it became annoying near the end.

Summary: A fine timewaster for 30 minutes with decent music and a good control scheme. Although repetitive, the upgrades will make gameplay a little longer.
If there's ever going to be a sequel, I'd like to see it in an open environment, with possible open-RPG system with experience, skill trees, shops, upgrades, random monsters, loot and the like.

3,5 stars.
