Reviews for "a sudden meeting"

An "art" game isn't made by throwing in some somber music over a three-word story. Although the music was good.

First, what is the point of having the player control this boy on a bike? Why is it one of those weird circus bikes instead of a normal one? Is it supposed to symbolize something? When the boy falls off his bike, does it represent the shattering of his fragile heart? Does it have some kind of deep connection to the emotions of love? Not really, no. If you wanted to go with the whole "love is about charging forward blindly and trusting your heart" thing, you should have ramped up the speed by 1.5x, maybe 2x (and extended the horizontal width slightly to compensate). If you wanted it to be more like "love is about finding inner balance and harmony," you could have added some more large cliff drops. As it is now, it's a bit hard to relate the gameplay to any meaningful perspective on love.

Second, the difficulty. There was only one part that was problematic for me, and that was in the 4th part, when there's a really steep downhill. That could be smoothed out a bit. Also, uphill climbs were a drag. Maybe try reducing some of those. More life checkpoints would also help, since it's annoying to go all the way back to the start.

Third, the story. The end didn't really feel rewarding enough, considering how long the game was. And that's about all I can say, since the beginning and the end were the only points with any story. You could have injected story into the gameplay. For example, you could have the balloon constantly flying around on the screen, which would have the added effect of giving the player a concrete, visible goal to reach for. Stuff even as simple as having someone inside a house turning the lights on or off, or having birds flying around in the forest. I get that it's supposed to be a simple story, but that's the beauty of video games: they can add depth to a story not through words, but through little background animations or gameplay elements.

Cute game, even though it was becoming quite boring at some point. It wasn't at all challenging and I finished it because I wanted to see how it ended, and to be honest it was very predictable...

Furthermore I was a bit confused as to why the big wheel spins clockwise and the little one anticlockwise, and to why the bike seems to be sinking into the ground sometimes.

I've seen many other little flash games which were a lot more heart touching. It feels like most of the emotion comes out of the music rather than the story itself.

Well not bad in the end I guess, but I can't say I really enjoyed it.

It's decent at best, the story is predictable, the gameplay is okay the game would actually benefit from being a lot shorter, did like the animations and music was nice but i think some sound effects that are missing would make the experience more emersive such as the sound of the bike or something, in the end it's a suprisingly booring game

Really drags on for way to long, if the gameplay was at least more engaging as to just hold the up arrow with the ocasional balance i guess it would make more interesting as it is, it's a pretty dull game with some interesting graphics/artstyle

The idea of an adventure on a bycicle is very cool. But it lacks challenge and purpose (just get to the end of a scenario), so it's kinda boring.
The game freeze in, pratically, every scenario, even for just 1 or 2 seconds, was enough to make me fall and restart some scenarios. It could be a memory problem in my machine, but I think you should check your code to see if doesn't have something you should improve.

Sorry, but i didn't like it. It had some good music in it, but to me, it was pointless.
I see a lot of these "games" that try to be "intelligent", but really, they are just the same boring love "story", where boy travels 100 miles to meet girl.
It could have been a bit better, if you just put something in the background. Funny or serious, it wouldn't matter, at least it would give me a reason to look at the screen while playing it.
2 stars for the music though.
