Reviews for "The Jenova Cure"

Lol great animation man i loved the jokes and found it hilarious that after Sephiroth did so many things he thinks he can be forgiven by just giving Cloud ice cream bars.

I loved it, it was reminiscent of the ole' legendary frog vids.
It definately made me laugh petty hard, not to mention that the animation was n't sloppy, as well as the music actuallly put in really well.
10/10 (rating system has changed, butt fuck it)

You've definately made a new fan, my good man.

Hell, I usually atleast complain about something, but this time, I don't see/ hear anything wrong.

It was nice, I liked all the placement of the music, and it was pretty funny.

i would have forgiven him if they where klondike bars, but not just for icecream bars.

He's new to giving people gifts not made of despair wrapped in trauma.

One ime, a friend of mine drew a sketch of Sephiroth presenting Cloud a shitty crayon drawing of the two of them holding hands on a rainbow. At the bottom, in big scrawly handwriting, it read, "i sowwy."

I was more amused by that drawing than I was by this animation. I don't know whether to say it's because of the dry, stagnant punchlines, or perhaps that the ship has sailed, run dry on fuel, and been left adrift when it comes to these kinds of dated and sorely worn out jokes.

The high point of the cartoon, for me, was when Sephiroth presented the sandwiches and had to deal with Cloud's doubt and cynicism. Everything after that was just an extension that wound up thinning out the humor.

At the very least, I get the notion that the writing is attempting to portray Sephiroth as akin to a troll. The way he jovially mocks Cloud is typical to his character, but distinguishable in this cartoon from what he actually does in the game. You ought to just drop the other shoe and make Sephiroth a full-blown trickster.

Sephiroth's actual character is too haughty and arrogant to come close to what you've shown here, but there's still lingering traces of his superiority complex in this iteration. It might help the humor if instead of representing those elements of his character, you have the more mischievous, cruel, and insensitive elements overpower them - make him almost childlike, like a bully, in the way he turns Cloud's every word around on him, or puts more words in his mouth to cajole, taunt, and trick him.

Anyway, I'm rambling now. I had nothing positive or constructive to say when I started writing this review, so I apologize if what possible improvements I have suggested seem only half-baked.

Kiigen responds:

Actually, I found it pretty helpful. Charcater portrayal is important. I honestly feel Cloud was nowhere near the mark, I hadn't noticed Sephiroth skewed that far of... I also felt that the flashback sequences proved their point and I should've dropped a few. I later added a bit more to them and felt they stood well because of it, so I added them back in. I see its still drawn out though, so thank you, I was looking to see if it was still taken that way. Overall, your criticism was helpful
