Reviews for "SplitMan"

There's a glitch with the moving platforms where you sort of glide if you're trying to run in the opposite direction, or it accelerates if you're moving in the same direction. Also, clones sitting on top of other clones don't move with the platform and fall.

Frustrating but good. And satisfying when you kill that guy. That bastard.

Pros.
-Simple and well used platform phisis.
-Cool puzzles. You explored very well the possibilities of the 'splitting' ability.
-Single but enjoyable music.

But there are a few bugs:
-There was a screen glitch when one my clone died to the last drill, on the last stage, before the end.
-The big crates can be pushed a pixel with a single clone if you run, jump and collide with one of the sides. Thus, with patience, avoiding having to get 2 or more copies to pull it.

Very catching game.
8/10.

Cool game, and hard! I stoped in the level 22, another time I beat the game. xD

It's a good time killer, short, easy and enjoyable, but I have played few platformer games in my time, so I'd have to say it could be much better.

The Music
Music was one of the stronger aspects of the game, it sounds great and fits well with the game, although there's a 'but' or two as a matter of fact; first of all, it was poor quality, and by poor quality I mean youtube 240p poor quality, you could have made sure that the music is of higher quality or even made it 8/16 bit, which would suit the design; the second problem was the looping, when looping a song for a game then the loop should be continuous, this can be achieved by cutting out the loop and stitching the song together with either the beginning or any other part of the song in such a manner that the listener wouldn't realise that the song loops. 4/5

The sounds
I don't have much to say for this since you seemed to use default sound effects, which is fine, but one problem I've had were the menu sounds that just had this frustrating sound. 2/5

The controls
The controls were default, they felt a lot like megaman controls and even the animation was similar, basically nothing new but at the same time it didn't feel out of place. 3/5

The gameplay
Gameplay for this game was average, it wasn't anything new and exciting but neither was it terrible, ability to split had a mild effect on gameplay and could use some refining to make it more memorable, you didn't really feel the presence of this skill. 3/5

Level design
I can't say much about the levels either, they didn't really feel complex nor original, the levels were simply basic, although not bad. 2/5

The storyline
One of the key features I am interested in a game is the storyline, sometimes games can cut it without one, but most of the time storyline is crucial for me. In this situation there were signs of some storyline, but it was minimal, for me a storyline that is not expanded upon is worse than a storyline that wasn't started at all (it's a lot like a person who opens a bracket but never closes it, make sure to note it down. 2/5

The writing
The writing is one of these things that you either should do well or not do at all, unluckily the few lines that the evil bad had were lacking in quality, it was too cliche and had this feeling that it lacked in imagination, next time try to think of different way to introduce the player to game and controls. 2/5

The animation
One last thing I will comment on is the animation. There were particular moment in the game where the animation felt very... simplistic, to be more specific it was the travelling to next level, the character being dragged around felt lazy-ish, a lot like using comic sans for presentation because it looks cool.

To summarise it, the game had an interesting concept but lacked in execution, there were parts that needed improvement, though there weren't any wrongs, just parts to be improved.

So good.

I like the pixel, blocky-ness of it, and the music goes so well with it. Wonderful.
