Reviews for "Snow Tale"

Seems like it had excellent potential

The graphics are great, and the idea behind the game is good and all, but the sketchy movement components distract from the game. It's nice to see that you put in a lot of effort into how it looked and felt in terms of the general gameplay (because trust me, you did well on that part), but, well, eh I've said enough.

It's not that good.

Let us face it. It's nothing new, the combat is easy and generally so is the game apart from one thing. The controls. It shouldn't be the absolutely HORRIBLE controls that add difficulty to a game. I honestly couldn't bare to get far in this game. It was too focused on precise timing when it came to the elevator things near the beginning where you had to throw your snowballs at the gear to make it go up the tiniest amounts. You then needed to repeatedly do that over 200 times until you actually got up once. And that's only if your timing was spot on. Then double jumping would cost me to fall back down to the starting due to the fact that you have to not only be precise when: attacking, throwing, using elevators, but also JUMPING.

To put it very flat out: this game wasn't and isn't ready for distribution. It needs a lot of polishing still.

Bad

Im sorry im usally not to critical about games but this was bad. The games would always freeze right over spikes and other shit even though I have a good computer, it was an ok idea though needs polishing

Poor effort

With poor jumping mechanics and an overall easy game play this is a terribly poor showing. A lot of the users claim that the poor movement mechanics make the game more challenging, but this is a mistake. They seem to me to be confusing difficulty with regular frustration. Challenge and difficulty should come from good level design. The player should feel as though they just achieved something as opposed to simply overcoming lazy programming. A few other reviewers commented that the jumping mechanics were more intricate (that you needed to build up momentum before being able to jump further) but it wasn't anything more complicated than hitting jump and forward caused the characters movement speed to cut in half. Jump then move is fine, move then jump fine, jump and move and you fall to your death. Outside of that the bosses were tedious and the levels were simple. It's rather disappointing considering the amount of effort that went into the game considering the cute pixelated characters and the nice soundtrack.

I like the concept of the game but I was hoping for a fun and quirky kind of game just by looking at the characters. My enthusiasm seem to leave after playing for just a while and then the game was just hoe-hum before I lost interest. This game has real potential, the concept is there it just needs to have the character move and jump much better than it does. Quite frustrating when wanting to move fluidly through the game. Otherwise, with a little more work this should be an enjoyable game to play.
