Reviews for "Chuck the Sheep"

-.-.-.-.-

Good game, but the last quest is buggy. after reachng the 'end' of the game/storyline a first time, you're not able to 'finish' magma flats...

Fun to play

Much like a less bloody toss-the-turtle in hours of fun playability. I came across a few problems though.

First off I never figured out how to use my boosters. Which I might discover as I play longer but right off it's not easy to find, nor seems to be anywhere in the instructions? If it's a mouse click well I'm playing only with a keyboard.

Second it seems (on mine anyway) every time I press [P] for play after pausing the game it doesn't work and I have to reload the game.

Otherwise very cute, I plan on spending some time playing around with it.

Nice

I can always enjoy these launching type of games where you have to bring your character to cover some distance by purchasing upgrades and everything. I liked the cute little background story with the sheep tryin to escape the farm. A nice twist from other launch games was the resources upgrade system. I haven't seen that in a launch game before (often is was simply money you had to collect) and I think it's a nice little addition. It makes room for some more depth.

I do think the resources system is a little bit out of balance though. Near the end of the game I found that the most common resources like wood, water and meat were actually far more valuable than electricity and oil have ever been. Since you could just trade everything by mixing 1 with 1 other it was very easy to obtain some electricity while the most electricity you ever had to spend was 40 or so on the final upgrades if I remember correctly. I think it might have been a little bit better if you needed to mix like 3 oil with 3 iron to make 1 electricity. Just to make the bottom resources a bit more scarce and valuable.

Overall 9 out of 10, 5 out of 5. Good game. Keep up the good work.

As expected.

Classic jmtb02. thumbs up.

Least favorite of your games-

I think you are my favorite game designer on NG. There were a few things about this one that felt they could be polished, though:

-don't know if this was intended, but the game just ends when you reach the "finish" - I wanted to collect all the upgrades though. When I reloaded my game it just loaded before that level, perhaps I closed it too soon?
-the balance of resources is off - wood is harder to get than electricity as others noted
-the experience system feels unnecessary and forced. You only get a few bits of experience at a time and most of the time I had no clue what achievements I was going for. Maybe a central menu that has the quests? Plus the quests didn't really affect the gameplay so there weren't incentives to complete them
