Reviews for "Ultranought"

ummm.....EH

the game is good, i liked it but it could use some improvement. starting with:

1. when the game has loaded and all, a sign should come up saying: some content is only available at NULLL GAMES would you like to continue? clicking yes will open the game in a new window at the null games website and clicking NO will let you continue to the main screen where the options new game load game etc. are available.
This will avoid disapointment later on in the game when everyone will find out that only certain oppents can be fought at null games and all the progress up till now was for nothing making most players think F*** MY LIFE and closing the browser and waiting 2 days to make the same mistake again (like i did -_-).

2. try chnging the enimes a little more, after a few lvls the only thing differnt is ship colour and if the ships look differnt on the ''choose which ship to fight next map'' then they should in the actually fight. this could reduce the time taken for a gamer to get bored, you know? that suspense of how the next fight will look like and how cool the ship will be and bla bla bla.

3. give the enemy more power please, after the first 2 fights i developed a technique that was going to ensure victory every fight. give them special attacks to and add more specals to our forces aswell, like laser cannons and more bombardments and also other then upgrading the main defense turrent add more turrents?. also i think there should be more than 1 skill point gain after a match.

Thats all i can think of so far, do whatever improvements you want or that are easier to program... or whatever your the maker :)

meh

Well... I think it's a good game just doesn't feel... interesting

As one post mentioned, the game goes kinda slow..

In fact, I feel like a bystander because your game is so incredibly passive!

But, this is not meant to discourage, it's just a suggestion!

rather glaring flaw.

i can't really suggest anything that hasn't already been suggested. except perhaps A SAVE FUNCTION?!

fit the game in to the usable window

it's sure looks fun but how can we play it if the game doesn't fit the screen and can click the buttons ?

A good start to a game

One thing I will agree with a review below me: You need to tell us that the game is incomplete on this website before we start playing. It made me want to say 'forget this' and give you a lower rating. I know you want to promote your website and drive more people there, but there are better ways of doing it, like giving a special attack option that can only be used on your site, or allowing a fourth level of ship building.

Now that I've said that part let's look at the game. I speak from a gamer's stand point, not a programmer's. So please keep that in consideration. This is what I find fun in a game I'm going to play.

You game is a fun one. Building up to unleash a swarm of ships across the battle field and annihilate my opponent is pretty awesome. The play is simple and streamlined in a way that works fairly intuitively. I felt like the learning curve allowed a new player to be successful while still making some mistakes.

Some things I would like to see:
1. More types of enemy bases and ships. While each enemy race had its own set of skins, I had to fight several of each before getting to the next one. Perhaps having similar looking motherships but making them look upgraded each fight (getting bigger and what not). You could also use space stations and even planets as things we attack.
2. A game speed option. So much waiting often left me tabbing to other websites while my Ultranought upgraded itself.
3. Hero Units? I think these would be especially good on the enemy side of things. Have a count down before the ace fighter pilot of the enemy flies out with a seriously buffed up ship. It would make it more important to use specials and build ships in the first 5-8 minutes of each stage (something I never did. I just upgraded energy and weapons).
4. Some other "alarm modes" for the enemy motherships. By the time I was attacking the second race my swarm of ships would kill the enemy mothership so fast it would alarm twice and die even though there was a swarm of enemy ships to match mine in size. Something like a push-back or an EMP that disabled all my ships for a few seconds.
5. Battles against multiple enemy motherships. You could put another motherships in the middle of the map so it's ships would stream at you faster while you built up. Again, this would pressure the Ultranought to build ships sooner rather than just sitting on your hands since it took so long for enemy ships to arrive.

I did not play on your harder modes. That is mainly because I could not complete the game here so I stopped playing. Perhaps those modes would offer more challenge, but since I couldn't complete the normal game, I didn't see the point in going back. Note that many of my suggestions are meant to make the normal more a little more challenging since I really felt like there was no way I could lose without walking away from the computer for an hour or two.

Please keep making games!

NulllGames responds:

Thanks for the feedback.
Regarding exclusive content i figured it wouldn't be such a big deal as these are optional levels and don't keep one from completing the game.
There's currently a 2x speed button in the game, next to the minimap (or press f).

Hero units is actually a good idea - could serve as alternate alarm or panic modes for the AI.
