Reviews for "LRD2: Conquest"

yay

I love playing all your games of the lethal guy

You did it again

You did it again another great game, love the new strategy mode but what i like most is how it explains more about hwo Lethal gain his power and everything.

Great game, but a few issues...

At first I really really liked this game. I stayed up until 4:00 a.m. playing it when I realized I couldn't complete it in one night. That's because it has all the addictive conquering fun of a good RPG. However, as the game went on I noticed some issues. Firstly, the dialogue. I know a lot of people have mentioned this, so I'll be brief and hopefully original. The "Your king's kind of a dick" line I liked at the time, because I like a villian with a sense of humor, but later on I realized it didn't really fit with Lethal's personality. Speaking of his personality, when I play a villian in a game, I like to take it as an opportunity to do all the fun things that being good doesn't allow. So I'd like a villian to have some entheusiasm or passion for what he does. For example, it would be nice if Lethal said "DIE!" or made some good quips here and there. As is it, he looks and acts kind of bored.

The music is good, but it gets kind of old after a while. Maybe the game could use some "darker" music.

Finally, the Regeneration Spell and Regeneration II Spell should have their descriptions worded more clearly. "Round" and "move" are not defined, so in both cases I thought they conisted of one skill use for each character, instead of the entire battle phase. In other words, I thought they occurred three times as often as they actually did. If I'd known, I would have spent my skill points differently.

Thanks for a great game.

Improving, interesting, but still confusing...

I've followed your games, particularly your LRD saga...or whatever it is...for some time now...and I have to admit that there is an interesting concept behind it all, interesting enough that is for me to play through most of them anyway...

Now don't get me wrong, this game by itself probably has enough content and gameplay to hit a good score on its own. Despite what people say, there IS a plot to it and it IS detailed enough to satisfy any gamer's appetite...although I have to admit your scripting could use a bit of work, obviously you're trying to make Lethal in this game some smooth-talking villian but really there is an art when it comes to such dialogue...well better luck next time I suppose and as always there are so many ways to improve your skills to such things. In matters of other aspects such as the gameplay, that was pretty good, easy to get addicted to so thumbs up for that. And I don't know if anyone else has seen your earlier games, but your animation has come a far way since then, although you also need to improve on that somewhat, at least your characters look more 3-D then flat...so you're on your way there...keep at it :)

Which leads me to the next point, which is about the relationship of this game to previous ones...I can't help but notice you recycling some your background music from your previous games...particularly LRD: Rebirth; and although there isn't anything really wrong with that, it would be great if you could add other tracks to the battles...the fact that it always seemed to be the same ones really annoyed me to some extent. I also can't help but notice that you're also seeming to change gameplay styles with each game...or is it different because of the differing Lethal series which are LRD and LRU? In any case I notice that the gameplay system in this game is similar to that of LRD: Rebirth...I suggest you keep with it and try not to make it any more complicated; when it comes to RPGs as I know them, people prefer the fighting to be automatic as you're exploring and all throughout the game...just a thought...

And the final point...was it really necessary to make this game in the scheme of things?!?! I mean it seems more of a prologue to the actual game's storyline rather than a sequel...the title you've given it is quite misleading, correct me if I'm wrong but LRD: Rebirth happened AFTER this game...and for a while I was confused how the LRU storyline incorporated into the more universal aspect of you're storyline, until I visited your website it felt as though you were making major time-skips forwards and backwards which was rather fustrating because I didn't know what was the latest game in your series...although I've now become clearer on what's what in your game, it's also important when you're releasing games to make it clear to your audience the congruency of your storyline...otherwise the seemingly randomness of your games can switch people off.

Apart from all of that you're game still remains rather entertaining, it wasn't dark in the sense that it was psychologically disturbing but it certainly is fun to feel like a vengeful villian amassing forces to dethrone a king...who's a dick =_= yes please work on your scripting please? xD take the shortcomings in your work as a worthwhile challenge; you obviously demonstrate you have alot of potential to pull it off...I'm looking forward to your next release :)

It was fun.

Just finished first play-through. The game is fun enough for me to play it all the way through in one go (took quite a long while) but I think it still needs polishing.

[Some Spoilers Below]

Bugs:
Numerous grammatical errors, game crashed when I reached the first undead fortress (White screen with ( ! ) ). After a while of playing the memory load builds up, lagging the game and forcing me to refresh the webpage.

The catapults are way too overpowered, leaving very little 'strategy' to the fortress battles. Once you get the dragon combined with the catapults the fortress battles are a complete joke, I was taking out multiple fortresses within the first round at that point.
This also makes all of the other blueprints and units absolutely useless once you pick up the catapults.
I also had no need for any potion sellers/blueprints, completed the entire game on just the ones I found and I still have 41 potions in my pack, I may have died 3 times.

Another problem is out-leveling the entire game, I didn't grind much at all (level 42 after beating 1st play-through) and after the first fortress on Dark Force I was gaining absolutely zero souls.
I completed the tournament and then did the last part of the tourney. again right before I even explored Dark Force at all so maybe that contributed to out-leveling.

Short of that, maybe adding some way to cancel selection in the fortress battles and some way to remove spells from the action bar would be good, and use a spellchecker, the misspellings are like a scuff on a brand new pair of shoes.

Just my constructive criticism. It's better than anything I could make. (Although I've never tried.)
