Reviews for "XenoSquad"

Fun game..

But... it gets too easy towards the end. The final level is a huge let down.

Easy Tactics Game, solid gameplay

XenoSquad started strong and ended mediocre, but it was well worth the playthrough on the whole. The mechanics of defense, troop movement, and heat were well thought out, and I would have liked to see more of them! The last few missions became tedious, as the upgrade system made the characters extremely overpowered.

I think the game would have been playable with no upgrade points spent at all, and would have provided the right level of challenge. While RPG elements are fine and dandy, there would have been enough customization by choosing the weapon "class", and the level up system was unnecessary. If you really want to keep it, bump the difficulty up several notches, and nerf the bayonets a bit (either make it a melee-only weapon, or make the melee minions not one-shottable).

More missions (with a greater challenge) would have enriched the game as well. Enjoyable on the whole, yet definitely not perfect :)

It's good, but certain things let it down.

First of all, it's a very good game. Lovely graphics and good gameplay mechanic. I am a big fan of tactical turn-based games.
What lets this game down, however, is that it just isn't varied enough. The lack of enemies really lets the game down. You keep adding more and more members of the squad, but you only ever come up against the two enemies first introduced. I liked the enemies you could only kill by shooting in the back, that's a good idea which means you have to lure them into the open in order to destroy them. I also liked the absolutely massive things that you could only kill with certain weapons. I thoroughly enjoyed the first level they are introduced on (I didn't have the weapon that kills them outright yet) and I had to play a game of cat and mouse with them, leading them to the exploding barrels. Once you get that weapon, however, it loses any tactics. You just sit and shoot until it dies.
The problem is that there aren't enough of these enemies. You really only face the small, fast-moving things and the ones that can shoot. It gets a little boring, especially when your weapons get more and more powerful, but the enemies only require one shot to kill. If you made them upgrade in the same way your team does, it would make it more of a challenge. Once your team reach the highest level, there's nothing that can stop them really. The only times I ended up dying were from my own stupidity or I accidentally clicked somewhere I didn't mean them to go (an Undo Move button would help with the latter, nothing can help with the former.)
At its core, it's good. Where you let yourself down is with a lack of variety. It could be improved simply by increasingly hardy enemies and one more enemy type. It's still good though.

good...but way to easy

Fool proof strategies are one thing...but to completely stop enemy spawns or nuke them from across the map with a Grenade launcher just makes things way to simple.

Easiest ways to kill respawners is to blace a soldier with a assault rifle (bayonet gun) diagnol to a spawner and keep putting him on defense. When they pop out he just stabs them and they die instantly.

A grenade launcher with a maxed range will I shit you not hit ANYWHERE on the map (atleast for me it did)

these 2 stratergies alone broke the game. You should probably fix these and make the game much more challenging. Other then that is was a very good game I I hope for some sort of sequel or patch. I never Played Incubation so I cant make any comments to that but if it was like this I'll ahve to check it out soemtime.

I played and loved "Incubation".
So I see that you overtake the game 1 to 1. The enemys the tactical system the structur of the maps etc. The differences are; that your game is much easier, more unbalsanced, you have got no map and (but thats clear) its much shorter.
Realy good game, but I think I would love it more if I wouldn`t know the original game, which is deffinitly unreached by yours (sorry but I think you know that too).

Ps: nice too see that other people still love the masterpieces
