Reviews for "Super Drift 3D"

Interesting

A really great game! Reminds me of San Francisco RUSH for the N64, except I would have actually left out the drifing part, it would do fine on its own as a racing game in my opinion and the drifting feels a bit awkward.

daaaaaang

dude i congradulate you this game is so good it could proboly run on a ds/3ds! i hope to see more of your stuff in the future :)

Thanks a lot, plenty more to come :)

Brilliant game. It shows what Flash can do.

I signed up purely to write a review for this. I played this game and was amazed.

The amount of work that has clearly gone into it is immense. I feel I should itemise my review:

Graphics: Superb. Absolutely superb. It reminds me of old-school arcade racers, which I suppose was the aim. I cannot stress how amazed I was without sounding like a sycophant, but really, WOW. I had no idea that flash could run so well, and not to mention this ran very well on my decrepit computer.

Controls: A little odd, but forgivable. I have played games with worse controls, and considering this is more or less a tech demo then I can safely ignore the minor issues with control.

Overall: A brilliant piece of work. It's amazing to see such talent in the community, and it shows just how powerful Flash can be. Well done Dreamcheese, and well done Rumblesushi. I hope to see many more brilliant pieces in the future from you two. :)

Thanks for signing up just to review this game ;)

I've worked literally 24/7 for months to achieve this level of 3D performance in Flash, I want my games to be playable even on old, crappy computers. One of the things I dislike about PC gaming in general is the discrepancy in performance between low and high end hardware etc.

It's honestly not a tech demo though - we basically set out to recreate a mid 90's arcade racer, as we're big fans of the genre.

Although undeniably it's a showcase title for us, for the 3D engine I've built, and for Flash - it's as much of a game as the games it's heavily inspired by ;) The controls have actually had a LOT of work put into them, and tested on racing game fans etc, but it's tricky getting proper 3D handling to translate well to keyboard controls. The drift mechanics take some getting used to for sure, but I think they're quite satisfying once you get the hang of them.

For our next racing game, I'll make the game more accessible to non racing game fans though, with simpler handling and drifting, yet try to retain enough depth to please proper racing game fans.

Thanks again for the review, and I hope you enjoy our subsequent games, our next 3 or 4 games are planned out, all of them a different genre :)

Really good

I mainly wanted to write this review to say that this had formidable graphics. There are buyable racing games with less great graphics. Especially the 3D stunned me, really wonderful. Those little things like seeing the course below you in the glass floor part of Coastal City and the flower petals in the Cherry mountain course show how much time has gone into this game. I love the big jumps in the courses too.

Everything works fine too, although I would rather have seen that, as soon as you let go of shift, you immediately stop drifting. And I turn around every time on the last jump of the Coastal City course, just a second before the end. But since I haven't heard anyone about it, I guess it's just my bad playing :)
I can't see how you can remain your speed at the three falls in the neon course though. Sometimes I start at 100MPH, go to 160 by falling and immediately after I land go to 65MPH.
At another try I do exactly the same, and end with 105MPH.

Nonetheless, I'm very addicted to this game, and I can almost draw the map of neon good times purely on memory now, knowing in what corners I have to drift to get through, and what corners I can just drive through. You delivered a great piece of work.

P.S.: I'm really frustrated because, no matter how much I try, I can't get under 1:10 in Cherry Mountain.

pretty fun :)

I enjoyed this :)
