Reviews for "Alight (in dreams)"

Fun, smart game.

I don't think it's fair to lump this in with all those tedious "art" games that don't hold up well as either art or game. It has some superficial similarities to those games, but instead of being vague for vagueness's sake, it tells a pretty sharp, straightforward story which I enjoyed.

I picked the alarm clock on every level, which results in a pretty decent challenge (friggin' birds). Once you get used to the jump and glide it works perfectly well. Here's a hint to anybody who's stuck: sometimes, you'll need to just use up your jumps so you can use space to glide and fall, glide and fall without worrying about your glides sending you upward. This aspect reminded me of the last level of the original Earthworm Jim. Anyway, this is a well done game!

Excellent

Alight is a deep game that kept me absorbed from start to finish. Although the gameplay doesn't have much variety, the story will keep you playing from start to finish. The pixel art style gives this game a vintage platforming feel and the soundtrack helps set a dream like ambient tone. The challenging achievements give this game plenty of replay value. This game is not for everyone but if playing an introspective, atmospheric platforming game (similar to Braid) interests you Alight is definitely worth a playthrough or two.

Is this all there is?

I found level 8 but I feel like there should be something more to it. Maybe if I found all the motherly figures. Is there a way to know wish path leads to her?

Spoiler for level 8 : I don't know if it is necessary but I did all the alarms. At the end, I didn't take the big door. A message "Maybe there is a better way" appeared at the bottom. I jumped to the bottom and there was level 8.

Very abstract

The story line is very vague, but in a good way. I got a sense of mystery and even a dreamy feeling as I pilot the guy through his dream world. The concept is easy but at the same time controlling can be a little difficult and that keeps the game interesting. Very good!

i like it a lot...but i cant get past level three.:(
