Reviews for "Penguin Overlords"

a few flaws

the game looks good ,but the gameplay is bad. The penguins have bad AI, If There is something blocking their way they won't go around it ,and when they lock on a target they never change it even If another turtle is walking right past them, and what the fuck is with the MISS ? seriously is it that hard to catch a turtle ?

too easy

it was fun but i beat it in less than an hour some advice i would give is make upgrades a bit more expensive but not too much

Time-waster at its best

This is, to be honest, the most mindnumbing game I've ever played. The gameplay is trite if not nonexistent--you collect orbs with the mouse so you can buy upgrades for penguins so you can collect more orbs with the mouse. At first, this seems easy and mildly fun, but after a few levels, it's hardly tolerable. It feels like the penguins themselves are doing all the work that the player should be doing, and the player is left picking up the pieces; it reminds me of shoveling snow with my brother. I would just go down the driveway, leaving behind rows of snow. My brother would "clean up" for me, getting all the snow I missed. Likewise, the player in this game is cleaning up for the penguins, fueling their bloodlust with wags of the mouse.

Of course, there are tower defense games in which the player places towers and these towers destroy enemy units, much like the penguins in this game, but, unlike most tower defense games, the player in this game does not feel in control. Tower defense games give you, shall I say, dignified if not entertaining tasks, like, of course, placing towers and upgrading them, but in this game, the player is demoted to the brainless task of collecting orbs and occasionally using power-ups. Not good.

In addition, this game is made rather poorly. The penguins keep getting stuck on walls, which is extremely frustrating. If this did not happen the game would be infinitely easier--it seems like a lot of the game is based on luck, wherein the randomized location of the turtles determines whether or not the penguins will get stuck and die pointlessly. I also found the shop menu rather hard to get used to, and the bombs, although useless anyway because of the hectic task of collecting orbs, even more useless because of their small blast radius.

I will give props because of the good graphics and music (although it needs more variety, it got boring after a while), but, overall, this game is utter rubbish.

boring

ok, but boring and hate having to mouse around for cash...

Uuuhmmm..

I feel like Michael Vic, collecting all sorts of cash when my dogs when a fight... I wonder if Michael Vic could upgrade his dogs with armor. I mean what are the rules on that? Yeah. Not my favorite. Kind of a waste of time. Pure upgrade and watch.
